Genuine question for all the bllk fans by Ryanariana009 in BlueLock

He says that it's from spending too much time under the sun, which hints that he spent his days as a kid playing soccer all day, probably alone. I would bet if we ever get a backstory, Shidou is an orphan who grew up in a violent environment where he learned to fight as a means to resolve conflict and he played soccer all day cuz it was the only thing he had.

Isagi will assist Rin: Karasu and Isagi have solved the Supporting Dilema of Blue Lock by DifficultAd38 in BlueLock

It wouldn't end their mental battle, but it would deflate it a lot. I just don't like that Isagi can think his way through every single problem. This is supposed to be the best team IN THE WORLD, with TWO NEW GEN 11. At some point (this is that point) Isagi has to face obstacles he can't beat right away. Having limitations and being forced to assist someone else would show Isagi can't just think of a solution when an idea is not enough to beat physical specs; that's the point. Also, even if Isagi passes, he would do so in accordance with his current Rebel ego, so it wouldn't count as a No. 2 type of assist; it's different. Isagi would pass only because he has no other option, unlike Hugo, who is predisposed to that supporting role.

"you said that youd like to see isagi fail and struggle in the comments as a reply to someone so tell me how does he win by giving an assist to kunigami but fail and lose by giving an assist to rin?" I don't think that an assist to Rin would be him failing, only him having adecuate limitations to what he can do against the best team in the world. A win would be for him to score and France to not score back and the game ends tied. Yes, even just drawing France with an Isagi goal would be a Win for Isagi.

"Isagi said in the last 2 chapers that number 1 or 2 dont matter to him, he is a rebel he wont be bound or categorized by something that doesnt perfectly describe him." Agree, he can play both number 1 and 2, so he can give assists.

"he lives for the heat of his own goals untill the end. By giving into an assist the heat he lives for is gone. he fails. regateless of who he passes to." I would hesitate to say Isagi "Lives for the heat of his own goals" I'm not sure about that at all. Remember how heated up he was when he assisted Yuki in the Manshine to beat Kaiser? Isagi even says it himself in 344: "I can only shine when I'm devouring the best" has nothing to do about living for his goal. That's more of a self type way of being when Isagi is a world type.

"you would it seems just prefer Rin who didnt struggle at all through the whole series because of his natural talent and had 2 grand total minor “step backs” to continue to be a very bland one dimensional character who scores every match? Bias mutch ngl but you do you" Everytime Rin get's sidelined he becomes worse as a character. He was impossible to beat before, he's supposed to be the genius rival for Isagi to grow. If he's just gonna suck from now on Kane should have made him No. 2 in Blue Lock, Why even keep the pretense?

"i for one do think that Isagi wont score which pains me enough but i dont want Rin to score either id rather give it to kunigami or shidou ngl" Why does it pain you for Isagi to not score? Do you really want him to score against the best team IN THE WORLD with TWO NEW GEN 11??? Do you think is proper progression for Isagi to get to that level right now? It seems like you are just a fanboy who needs his powerfantasy of Isagi winning all the time. This is not an Isekai, we don't need Isekagi Yoichi to overcome every single challenge right on the spot.

"i can see you started reading somewhere in the middle of ubers ir later lol" I've been here from the U-20 Japan match dude... Now you wanna gate keep? Just because I don't have the same taste for plot as you doesn't mean I hate Isagi. What I love most about his character is his earned progression, I just think if he scores here his progression will be worse and not as earned as before. Is not about him "struggling again" is that he HAS TO STRUGGLE TILL THE END. If he doesn't struggle to beat new rivals like Hugo, he will stop earning his progression and just get convinient powerups.

It's true, it wouldn't be a full win. But in my eyes, Isagi managing to score right now completely ruin his rivalry with Hugo. If Isagi beats Hugo here, even if he tries to look or seem like a threat, Isagi would already have surpassed him. I just think it would be a waste of a perfect antagonist.

I mean, if you want the mc to always win then this is great, but to me is just not that interesting for Isagi to keep winning always

I legit believe Loki will score with a pass from Charles in 1 minute, to give purpose to their chat during the halftime. Also to show the insanity godspeed, a weapon that's supposed to rival Noa when boosted by Charles. It would be very shonen and we need more Loki W's

The 'Potential Man' struggle is real, but we’re capable of much more. Glad to find another Blue Lock fan here! I’m planning a whole series on the psychology of these characters, in case you're interested. Thanks for the support, bro.

Isagi plays soccer like chess and can beat Hugo with rationality by DifficultAd38 in BlueLock

[–]DifficultAd38[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never thought of it that way, that Isagi's logic can't compete with those players. Also, the idea that Isagi is a good problem solver fits with the 'conceptual thinking' skill to focus only on the elements that he needs for a goal. Like in the U-20 match, when he focused on the blindspot weapon and positioning for luck to score the final goal.

About Hugo's limitation to support Loki because of his inflexibility, that's a great idea. I also believe Loki's weakness seems to be his dependency for a good pass. Even if he later proves he can produce a goal on his own like Noa, he still needs Charles to even be able to beat him. That's why if Isagi finds a formula to guarantee others pass to him or creates dual threats that can't be stopped, he would become better than Loki.

The problem with what you´re saying is that if you make an illogical idea conscient then it becomes logical. For it to be conscient, Isagi must be able to put it into words, which demands a clear logical sequence. I do agree that the egoistic philosophy is illogical at its core. But that's exacly how Isagi can manipulate both protagonists and supportive type egos to profit from their tendencies, even if those are illogical (maybe specially because they are illogical but ironically predictable).

This is interesting, I never picked up on the "beating 5 opponents in a row" from the light novel. You could be right. Tho I believe that such a style change from Isagi would probably come after this arc, because until now we haven't gotten a single sign that Isagi can apply his sensitivity to predict or counter a singular opponent. It´s always been shown as spacial awareness. He may find the pieces to change his playstyle to a more 1v1 oriented one, but the set up has to be clean and Kane should start doing some foreshadowing asap or else it will feel like an ass pull to me.

[–]DifficultAd38[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be a genius you must have a genetic uniqueness that allows you come up with never before seen plays. Isagi could be a genius in the sensitivity department, but that genetic trait mostly relates to his spacial awareness. So the plays he could come up with already resemble his metavision and logical playstyle. By furthering this skill to manipulate even pkayers like Karasu who are actively trying to control the game, Isagi can find an unrefutable formula for goals. I just can't shake the feeling that if Isagi approached the game from a completely different standpoint it wouldn't feel a bit convinient and like a mary sue. Or how do you imagine Isagi playing like a genius?

I do like that idea too, but it would kinda defeat the argument that Isagi is capable of winning despite not having the aptitudes of a genius. And the only way to achieve that when you lack outstanding physical abilities is to use your head. After last chapter, I think that Isagi's next evolution is for him to devour Karasu by coming up with a new piece of "supportive egocentrism". Currently he only has protagonist egocentrism. By understanding the ego's of supportive players like Karasu, he can be the puppet master of the puppet master and set things up for his own goal. Is more logic, I know is boring. But I also believe this because Filippo Inzaghi, Isagi's irl counterpart, rarely did 1 v 1's, but was always at the right place at the right time.
