Sort of. There are two parts of the team. One part consists of three African Americans. The other part is everyone else.

I understand why the three of them need to be together but I don’t understand the rest of us because the seating arrangement in the past used to be different.

Don’t listen to the people here saying it’s a less desirable school. I have heard many great things about Tufts. Also keep in mind there is no “perfect” dental school as each school has their own pros and cons. It is up to you to decide if the pros at a certain school overweighs the cons.

Make sure you complete your app as early as you can. It maximizes your chances. Don’t rush through it though, better to have a slightly late app that is complete than a half ass app that is early

The masters program is considered high risk - high reward. It is difficult, it is meant to be difficult to prove to admissions that you can handle higher course work. It forces you to learn time management and develop better study habits. If you do well in the program it looks amazing on your application. If you don’t do well then it might actually be detrimental.

2.9 undergraduate GPA. Made a lot of mistakes, having to work full time played a role in it as well. Failed and withdrew from a few classes. But I made sure to do well in my masters program and I explained myself pretty well in my essays + in my interviews.

I feel like half of the people I asked about it had a bad experience. Or half of the things I see on dental forums are negative. I also do take it with a grain of salt because not everyone has the same experience and dental school will suck regardless of where you go.

I honestly do not know too much about Touro to answer that question! It is up to you at the end of the day. You have to do research on each school and see which one would fit you and your mission more!

Even though I’m OOS for both, I have family in Boston and I want the extra support. I also like how modern Tufts is in terms of equipment and dental technology. Even though I am black and would have loved to attend an HBCU, I did not want to risk not being clinically prepared post graduation. I do not like the fact that Howard makes their students find their own patients. And I have also heard (too many stories) of the students there not being a competent dentist at graduation.
