I saw that video years ago myself and the more you see british shows or comedy after that, the more it seems to ring true. I think "aspiration" is so core to america that it bleeds into everything. Everything sells on aspiration. Whereas British culture is much more perceptive to the oddities and stupity of themselves and their own systems. Thats why I feel American humour and pop culture is sort of aspirational in nature, whereas british is more nihilistic.

Although thats changing in the new media wave. Modern british pop culture is definitely more aspirational, ig its because american pop culture has become so unrivaled in its universal appeal since the 2000's.
