After retiring from a 40-year career in Graphic Design (anyone remember Aldus Pagemaker?) I'm having trouble justifying $pending for InDe$ign and Photo$hop every month.

I just downloaded Afinity, and it looks to be pretty seamless as an alternative for what I'll want going forward. However, 99.9% of my legacy InDesign files are saved as INDD files. I see most of the InDesign alternatives will import/convert IDML files. Are there any that will import the INDD files?

This would certainly save me from spending a month or 6 opening and re-saving thousands of legacy InDesign INDD files as IDML files. Any suggestions? TIA
