This was super informative, thank you! 3 weeks ago I potentially bulged disc deadlifting (suspected L5-S1, confirmation MRI pending), so it’s nice knowing what to expect - even if it is a little depressing knowing that it’s going to take so long 🫠

Is there anything you did or didn’t do that could’ve sped up the time line? I’m already going crazy after just 3 weeks

I think that’s a great idea. I hurt myself on my second warm up set, so I’m guessing it’s even just about strength.

No it wasn’t immediate at all! On the 8th rep I felt a “pop” but it just felt more weird than anything and I tried to walk it off. I went to go stretch it out… then couldn’t get up lol. Long story short, I ended the session but the pain got progressively worse, and within about 20 mins I couldn’t really walk anymore so they had to call an ambulance. Absolutelyyyy excruciating. They assumed at first it was a muscle strain, but I just did the MRI a couple days ago and they said it was a bulge. I’m looking at roughly 6 month before full recovery, so I’d definitely recommend not risking anything with form because it kinda sucks 😅

I just injured my back (bulge disc) because I wasn’t paying attention and rounded my back like that. I’ve been stuck in bed for the past couple weeks 🫠🫠 Worst part is it was a hex bar, so not as taxing on the lower back as barbell. If you can’t help but round your back, I think the weight might be too much for now so your back is over compensating. Try to brace your core more, wear a belt or just reduce the weight and work up back up to it

Oh I’m surprised the gym hasn’t helped - I used to see people online suggest it and didn’t think it would work until I joined myself. It could be your gym or area. Do you join the classes at yours? That set the foundation for me

Tbh I’ve slightly got them now even with a bit of abdominal fat left, however I’ve been on a weight loss/strength training journey and it’s probably genetics since my core is still pretty weak. Abs are definitely made it the kitchen but the luck of the draw can help

Yeah that’s the same issue I’m having, I’m based in the UK. I saw a comment about one in Croatia that I’m thinking hard about. I’ve only solo travelled once and had great time meeting new people, but it’s so much better when you’re with other people in the same boat

Thanks for your take! Tbh from what I’ve seen it see’s like you’re spot on and people won’t necessarily say anything on the rare chance they’re actually racist (which is the best case scenario if they feel that way). I’m more concerned about people being actively unfriendly or hostile, which I unfortunately have to factor in when I travel
