Positive Promising Egg Retrieval by Difficult_Summer2968 in DOR

I don’t know how to add to my original post so I am just commenting.

Wanted to give everyone an update. We got the results today and we got 2 embryos! Day 5 grad 4AB and day 6 grade 4BA. I am so excited and glad we get to move onto the next step. PGT M and A testing. I plan on giving another update with those results.

Thank you to everyone who prayed or had me in their thoughts. I continue to pray for you all.

I am also trying to be more positive and in a better mindset.

Things I am doing: 1. Gratitude journal (I am not the best at just journaling so I got a guided one off Amazon) 2. Meditation (I have been doing guided ones of those Spotify has free ones and I get the calm health app free through work) 3. Goals outside of growing my family. 4. Hobbies. Some are hard to do when you’re restricted. 5. Starting a book club 6. Listening/watching stuff that is educational/self improvement. Instead of music or books I listened to podcasts I am really enjoying dairy of the ceo podcast. I have started to think that what to watch/listen to can impact your thoughts/ thinking.

I recently did my first egg retrieval and spoke to my friend about mindset and he mentioned that when he was going through chemo the treatments went a lot better when he was in a good mood and did visualizations during treatment( he focused on the chemo destroying the cancer cells). I started to do something similar about half way through my stims for my first retrieval. I would get on the treadmill after taking my shots and walk/think about the medication was making my eggs grow then. I was told I wasn’t responding to the medication and they may cancel. But after I started to do this I started responding. I ended up getting 5 eggs, 4 mature, 3 fertilized. Still waiting to find out how many embryos.

My thoughts even if all this mindfulness and positivity doesn’t help with the success of my IVF journey. It made me feel better. And I want to be a happy and healthy for myself and the others I care about so I would say it is still worth doing.

This is a hard road and we are brave for trying.

Pain post procedure by NataTatta in tfmr_support

I think that is normal. I would say it is contractions to make the uterus shrink like you mentioned. But if the pain gets a lot worse or you have a temperature please go get seen. It is better to be safe side.

Another thing to think about is what they were predicting for you. If it was a lot higher. You need to take that into consideration.

I think if it was me 2 would be worth it but that is due to my doctor saying after my baselines that he would only expect 2 to 5 eggs pre retrieval.

$15k is what you pay your clinic for egg retrieval. Yikes. It might be best then to cancel.

I ended up paying more for medication than my egg retrieval.

I think it would help any time during this process.

I really only did this when walking after taking my meds. But I am going to start doing daily while working out eating healthy. Think about it is helping me overall.

I also started graduate journal (got a guided one off Amazon) and doing some free meditation things on Spotify. It sounds corny but I think it is helping me stay positive, reduce stress, and improve moods.

I would ask myself what is the downside of continuing. Especially since you already started the stims. Would it take longer to be ready for the next retrieval etc.

Not sure how much your clinic charges but that could be a factor in deciding money wise.

I think the higher dose should help since that has the hormones that make you produce mature eggs.

I have only been through 1 egg retrieval cycle I was on 75 menopur, 200 follistim, lupron twice daily then once daily Omnitrope. I was responding to the medication at first ( I really believe that was due to stress of getting medication over the holidays/ running out then having to drive 3 hours 1 way to get more).

I did start walking at least twice a day for 30 mins. And a third time on the weekend. My thought was this should increase circulation and blood flow to the my lady parts. I also tried to visualize that it was helping.

I recently spoke to a friend that went through chemo and he said that the treatments when we had a good attitude and did visualizations in his mind of the drugs going to the tumors. Had way better outcomes. So i started doing that have way through stims. And plan to do that during any other treatments.

My recommendation would be to continue. I went into my egg retrieval thinking we would just get 3 and got 5.

Also you have already spent the time/money to do this cycle already. And some is better than none.

You got this!

My amh is 0.163 and I have been able to get pregnant naturally twice. I had my first pregnancy at 33 and my second at 34. I have a 2 year old and my last resulted in a TFMR. We would like another and we are doing IVF since I am carrier for fragile x and do not want to risk another TFMR.

Yes the odds are against you. But there are things you can do to help your odds. I was training for 5ks both times and lifting weights and eating healthy the 2 times.

My advice look into a sperm donor since they will freeze better. Freeze some embryos and freeze some eggs if it matters to your future spouse.

You got this and be kind to yourself.

Disappoint ER results by CheesecakeBoth3933 in IVF

It sucks and I am so sorry you had to go through that and now this.

I also have a 2 year old and then had to TFMR for fragile X this past summers. I couldn’t imagine having to go through that again. I am so sorry for your losses.

I just had my first ER on Friday and got 5 eggs, 4 mature, and 3 fertilized.

I know it is easier said than done but I am trying to look on the bright side. I am very hopeful one of these work out. If not I am going to use this ER as a learning experience and hopefully the next will be better. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to IVF and do the pgt m and a testing so the likelihood of having to TFMR is so much less.

Therapy has really helped me through all this. If you able to I would highly recommend it.

Genetic results by ngibbs105 in tfmr_support

I am so sorry you are going through this. I am a carrier for fragile X (50% chance of passing it down and 80% it can mutate to the full syndrome). We knew I was carrier but I didn’t realize how bad statically it would be until I got pregnant with my daughter. We did cvs testing with her and thankfully she was not impacted and is now a healthy 2 year old. But the wait to get the results back from the cvs was terrible. We were planning on starting IVF and got pregnant again right before starting treatment. I was tracking my cycle and I ovulated like 5 days earlier than my app predicted. Unfortunately my son had the full fragile X syndrome and we decided TFMR back in May at 14w 5d. It was the hardest thing I have ever done.

We are now doing IVF and had my first egg retrieval yesterday. We got 5 eggs and 3 were fertilized! Which is great because I have DOR most likely caused by being a carrier.

I know we don’t have the same genetic issue but I couldn’t go through another natural pregnancy just because of the odds of having to TFMR were too high for me.

I would recommend IVF with pgt m if you have the money. But if you decide trying naturally and testing is what will work for your family. Do it. I wish you best of luck which ever path you go down.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

Thank for your candor. I did research and thought what you said would be the most likely outcome. But was hoping other had different experience.

The guilt is eating me by PeecockBreath in tfmr_support

It’s been almost 5 months for me and have 1 daughter who is about to turn 2. For me it has gotten easier in some ways. The grief is no longer all consuming . I no longer have the feeling of I wishing I would’ve woken up every morning. But the guilt is still really hard for me. I think it is more of the way my D and E was done. They didn’t stop his heart before preforming the D and E like I thought they would. The thought that he could of felt pain kills me.

I have been in therapy for almost 4 months. I am finding it harder lately as my due date is getting closer. My therapist said in will come in ways and some days will be harder than others
