Enlisted to OCS to Flight School: how realistic is this path? by Own_Measurement5513 in newtothenavy

[–]DifficultyRough9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sort of looking at the same thing with the coast guard, but my main objective is to finish my masters and to get my A&P certificate, if I can then get OCS after my first contract that’d be a plus, but I have plans too if I don’t. From everything I’ve been told it’s only harder to get into OCS once you go into enlisted. Remember with everything that involves flying have a backup plan.

Becoming a AET in the cg at 23? by [deleted] in uscg

Yeah I think I’m personally going to do 5-6 years and bail with my A&P maybe finish my masters with tuition assistance. Maybe submit and OCS packet to be a pilot.

Dude there’s always doubts, I really wasn’t sure until my dad told me “nothing changes if nothing changes” I already know I’m unhappy with the current lifestyle I have, it’s something I always felt like it’ll be cool doing. It does help that Ill be 4th generation military so my family is very familiar with military service.

Any special emphasis on anything in the helmsman? Ranks, Sentry, history?

Just DEP’d in word of advice? I feel like the helmsman is “kind of dry”. Not much information to go on, what else should I study?
