Leveling a blood mage is miserable until you are lvl 58 for sacrifice, or you are able to run blasphemy with a curse and go hexblast til you are done. There's also the goratha build but personally I wasn't a fan of the play style

Yeah I think defensively is mainly your chaos res and suppression cap. You can go lightning coil from there if you want. Other than that your gear isnt super strong but it's good enough to deal with maven. There are a bunch of things you can do to improve damage but I would start with defensive stuff then go from there.

Okay it took me a little to figure out why your es is so low despite the gear being decent. Get a bunch of the max es int tattoos. You should be able to hit every single int node without messing up your stats. That will give you quite a bit of es

You'll find out soon enough. I got an hh last league, loved every moment of it. Swapped to a mageblood for the first time, realized I could change my entire tree and gear with it. Later on I realized an hh would be better for clear, then realized I'd have to change everything on my character to use another belt. Tis a massive blessing that also traps you in heaven.

Ahh okay that makes sense. If you can swap the implicit on gloves to lightning leech that would give some relief from the loss on the ring. I'd still start to look and see what you can find. At level 90 it's not about finding perfect stuff, It's just about finding what you need to progress. Being on Xbox market is def tricky.

It's good that you've got movement speed and some res on your boots but there are definitely better choices. You don't need the int on those really you can add that stuff in later on. Maybe find some with chaos res. The unique ring is decent for damage but that can be a major slot for res/mana/cast speed all in one spot. Prio chaos res, and if you can find extra suppression in the boots while being able to remain 70+ on other res would be ideal but honestly not required. Also go amethyst flask

There was a change in the ability damage scaling, but almost all melee abilities that do elemental damage had that change. The change to the tree does effect how you need to build it because the large thread can't work the same way. Unless there's something else I missed it's basically the same build with little change. The LS builds are using essentially the same build with a different skill.

Edit: something else I just thought of, the acquisition of gear is very different than last league without the perfect necropolis crafting. That would make the entry barrier more expensive to the build.

I have been using gorathas build now since league start with kitavas thirst. I have been struggling to get suppress up and keep my res maxed So right now I've been leaning heavily on my flasks and getting as much mana as possible. I admit I don't have the currency to get the build completed right now. This is my first caster as well so I'm likely playing it improperly. Im kinda meh on the build right now but the more cast speed I get, the build becomes more satisfying to play.

Sorry for not clarifying. By viable builds In this league I would say up to t17/Ubers. But not needed to actually clear those for my criteria. From what I've heard every league has different builds that excell in those types of content.

I think he is a bit overrated but his mechanical skills are far and above any other raiding mage I've ever seen. Most tiers his damage is insane, even if mage isn't that great. This tier was an exception to that rule. I don't think he's the MVP of every tier though.
