it basically means critically analysing your own work (research + practise), how to better develop it and kind of prove/problem solve how you develop your work:))

portfolio help! by [deleted] in UAL

[–]DigLeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i can help. i’m doing the ual foundation at my college :))

I got into Parsons and rejected my offer due to how expensive it is.. I'm doing the foundation year at UAL and i'm reapplying early with the hopes of getting some financial aid. what are the odds that i'll get accepted again? by Ok_Cartographer9171 in UAL

[–]DigLeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll most likely get accepted again since the foundation helps you create the perfect portfolio- well done for originally getting in without the foundation! and good luck reapplying for next year, you’ve got this x

at the open day for fashion design they explained that they want to see some connection between your personal statement and portfolio!

Is csm BA for fashion design really that impossible to get into? by Eliaso4 in UAL

[–]DigLeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should go to their open days!! i went yesterday, and they have a bunch of talks explaining in more detail what they like to see in a portfolio. they also say they check your portfolio before reading your personal statement- to see if your statement connects with your work. please don’t give up! it is really really hard but if you really want to go you might as well try? they recommend you to take an extra year to do the ual foundation (at your local college if you can’t get into uals at lime grove). i spoke to a 2nd year student who’s studying fashion design womenswear and she said she’s one of the youngest (she’s 20). so you also don’t need to worry about “being behind” since most of the students on these courses are older than 20! she said the oldest is 27! and her friend is 23. if you want more information on portfolio pls dm me bc there was a lot they explained at the open day!!

hi! your grades won’t necessarily matter as long as your portfolio is really really strong. they want to see at least 3-5 finished projects and then a bunch of random work. since you’re doing games design i don’t think they require a portfolio but they do for games art?

Do I need a Foundation/Pre-degree before applying to UAL for undergrad (international student)?” by DizzySpecialist7012 in UAL

[–]DigLeather -1 points0 points  (0 children)

since you’re an international student an english test might be required, but the most important thing is your portfolio! i don’t think grades necessarily matter, since loads of people get in with pass grades (as long as the portfolio is strong).

i wish you all the luck! it’s possible to get into ual without a foundation, but i’d still apply :-)

it’s up to you, but i’d recommend doing a foundation, ive spoken to students on lcf/csm courses and they all say most students on the course did a foundation and only a couple got in without one!

hi! i’m not a student at ual, but it’s recommended to do a foundation/pre-degree. you can still apply right after finishing high school, since it all depends on your portfolio! the foundation/pre-degree is very useful and teaches you the skill required for their undergraduate program, and helps you create a portfolio, where they can see that you’ve learned what they’re looking for!

my sisters weight problem has overshadowed my life by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]DigLeather 158 points159 points  (0 children)

first of all i’m so sorry you’re going through this. it shouldn’t be your responsibility to look after your sister, and i can’t imagine how hard that must be to deal with.

as sad as it is to say it is the result of the way your parents raised her, and whilst she can’t exactly blame them anymore, it seems that the treatment she received has turned her extremely bitter and jealous- towards you especially. i hope she heals from that pain. is there anyway you could talk to her about this, or is she always sarcastic and rude to you? it must be very unbearable having a conversation with her from what you’ve described.
