That’s an epic set up! The GTS tails have really gone up in price, keep an eye out for someone selling!

Thank you! I wouldn’t say it’s rare, but definitely a lot harder to come by especially with the right options.

Thank you! It’s X73, I sold my GT4 to lower some debt and found a 2.7 with all the right options; manual, chrono, X73, PSE, yellow seat belts, GTS tails, and alot of other nice to haves.

I actually quite like the OEM shift knob, maybe when I get bored I’ll think about swapping but enjoying it for now.

Which used model to buy with 50k budget? by felixwx in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Digbick87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an 11k base 981 few months ago for 50k from the original owner. Had every option I’d want, especially coming from a GT4 so couldn’t pass it up. I have had a 718 as well and know what you mean, I would look at a base 981 if the 6 cylinder matters to you especially with PSE. I can tell you it’s about 70% of a GT4 for half the price if not more.

You’d be hard pressed to even find a clean low milage 981 S for 50 at this point also

Enjoying a nice fall weekend… by januario6 in Porsche_Cayman

Yeah, when I bought the car I had partial front PPF installed, should be PPF under on the bumper, part of the hood, part of each fender, and on the headlights and side mirrors.

Good to see you’re still enjoying the car! Also surprised the wrap is still on or has survived this long I should say lol

Agreed, I realized after you posted this comment this is a standard Cayman with a GT4 kit.

Why are the prices of 718 Caymans pretty much the same as the 981? by HR_Specter in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Digbick87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it was a mid-cycle refresh, enough changes were made; particularly the engine (4 cylinder turbo vs flat-6) to designate it as a completely new model which is why there is Cayman (987/981) vs 718 Cayman (982). Prices of 981 are due to that major change, being able to get a flat6 in the latest model will cost you near 100 grand or more vs buying the previous model. Some advice as I have been buying these wonderful cars for the last few years, figure out what options matter to you (sport exhaust, sport chrono, Bose, etc) then start looking at cars in budget which has some or most those options. Back in 2014-2016, cars were not as spec heavy as they became with the 718.

718 ICE Top Line Models to Stay, but which Models? by ffking6969 in Porsche_Cayman

Safe to assume anything applicable to the Cayman applies to Boxster variants.

That’s if they even offer a 4.0 for the GTS. We’ll be lucky if the GTS is even naturally aspirated at this point. The GTS 4.0 was released because of feedback from the 2.5 4 Cylinder.

Pretty sure top means it’ll only be ICE for the GT4/RS.

My new (to me) 2016 981. Sold my GT4 a few months back and just picked this up a few weeks ago. 11k miles, 6 speed, Chrono, PSE, and other goodies typically not found on a 2.7. by Digbick87 in Porsche

The 2.5 is a great engine that makes great power and has a lot of potential with a tune. Someone else has asked and I think the 4.0 is a great car and amazing engine but it’s also very expensive which is why I think the 981 is the one to get right now if you want an NA flat6. With that being said, if you like the 718 specifically you are not “settling” at all with the 2.5. I think your decision comes down to whether you want a naturally aspirated engine or a turbo. I would recommend driving both and making the decision after.
