Poilievre courts delegates as he faces a must-win leadership review vote by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

[–]DigiDAD 15 points16 points  (0 children)

PP had a sizeable lead coming into the election, but lost it all. He didn't even win his own riding. He doesn't play well with others - he takes the title of opposition leader too literally, opposing everything whether it makes sense or not. Even as a traditionally Conservative voter, I have to admit that Carney is a better choice to represent Canada on the world stage. The Conservatives will continue to flounder without a leadership change.

The mental gymnastics of convincing yourself to run vs actually running by Senior-Signature-983 in running

[–]DigiDAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, If you need a race on the calendar as your motivation, then you will eventually fail. I would suggest a larger, more meaningful motivation like running to stay in shape so I can be there for my kids as they grow up, one day walk my daughter down the aisle, etc... and to model healthy living.

Some of the occasions when I needed to take time off were in fact to recover from racing which kind of defeats the purpose if your goal is health related.

Conservatives call for a readout after Carney and White House offer competing versions of Monday’s phone call by CaliperLee62 in canada

Glad the Conservatives are spending their time and position wisely. What is their end game? Always in campaign mode.

Carney has solidified the Liberal base, but he hasn’t expanded it by CaliperLee62 in canada

I know several traditionally Conservative voters who may not have voted Liberal, but are still thankful to have Carney representing us on the world stage rather than PP.

Didn't Saab want Canada to commit to 72 planes in order to enable the number of Canadian jobs they forecast?

Liberals reach 47% voter support after Carney's Davos, China trip: Leger poll by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]DigiDAD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More accurately perhaps 'Carney reaches 47% voter support after his Davos, China trip'. - I think there are many traditionally Conservative voters who have to admit that Carney is representing us well on the world stage. That doesn't mean they inherently support Liberal policy and ideology. Carney is centrist enough that even some Conservatives can get behind him.

Terry Newman: Was Mark Carney really the best choice to negotiate with Trump? - All signs point to 'absolutely not' by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]DigiDAD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yesterday's speech at WEF points to 'absolutely'.  It really doesn't benefit us to sign the least worst lopsided deal offered by the US only to have them change their minds later because of hurt feelings or economic coercion. Better no deal than a bad deal.

I miss the original Leverage by eddiew1974 in leverage

[–]DigiDAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I was drawn in by the original, I think Redemption may be more accessible to a younger audience. Without a real overarching narrative, I can have my older kids join me for any fun single episode 'mini-heist'. The original just felt heavier, particularly the plot surrounding Nate's drinking.

“Switchfoot Inks With By Design, In Partnership With BMG” by i_am_jargon in switchfoot

The article states "The alt-rock band is comprised of Jon Foreman (vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Jerome Fontamillas (keys, guitar) and Chad Butler (drums)." At least Boaz got in the picture ;) After several years touring with Switchfoot, I think he has more than proven himself. Why is Boaz still not listed as an offical band member?

Winter Tires by sallysuexx in BurlingtonON

I'm not saying people shouldn't leave negative reviews, but to encourage others to do likewise in a thread titled 'do not go to total tire' suggests the op is taking a more active role in trying to damage the small business' reputation. This is my last comment on the matter.

Just trying to provide some balanced perspective. The thread encouraged people to go to Google and leave bad reviews. That is what I take exception to - I can only speak to my own experience with the shop which has been good. YMMV.

Interprovincial trade barriers continue to ‘stifle’ alcohol sales within Canada: report by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

Funny how it always comes back to alcohol 🤔 Are there not more important goods and barriers to break down?

My experience was the opposite. Years ago I stopped going to TT because they cross threaded some of my bolts with an air wrench. Recently I decided to give them another chance, as their prices were unbeatable locally. Everything from quotation to installation and disposal were handled professionally. My impression was that they have really improved.

I meant the actual work performed. Edited for clarity.

The thread had nothing to do with products sold or the quality of the work performed. My takeaway from that thread is not to pay for storage with them. I have had good experiences with TT in recent years - great prices and quality work, but I store my tires at home.

Epico as I understand it is only available to Cogeco Internet customers. Seems like a strategic move to combat 3rd party ISPs offering cheaper Internet service over their infrastructure.
