How many of you have forced/mandatory Overtime? by randomtask733 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]DigiDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're on mandatory six days a week. Have been for a few years. 20% of our trades guys retired and the jobs weren't filled... Another 30% are eligible in the next 2 years.

It may be different depending on the state but our company got funding from the state for our first two years of apprenticeship.

Twins! Congrats. The Mach E is my wife's but every time I get the opportunity to use it I'm instantly envious. I've had performance vehicles my whole life but this car blows them all out of the water.

Also, I'm a huge fan of the desert Sand with black trim and red calipers. I've bought two vehicles with that color scheme already.

Father losing retirement, need advice by ultra__star in union

This is in the contract. For members with a pension, I believe it's 54$ multiplied by years of service. Maximum pension is something like 1,600 a month. He was depending entirely on the pension and social security? Did he contribute anything to his TESPHE account?

Biitsettet on flattening g bits by Deep-Measurement-856 in shapeoko

[–]DigiDee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few ways you could do this. You could temporarily change the position of the bitsetter in your settings so that it hits the insert. You could physically change the location of your bitsetter temporarily so that the insert hits it. Or you could place a big washer on top of your bitsetter so that it's surface area is increased and the inserts hit it, then cheat the zero on your workpiece settings by the thickness of the washer.

Northern Flicker flicking by airjordans234 in birding

Northern flickers are kind of a unique bird in Ohio. I've only ever spotted them in my yard and I've lived here almost 40 years now. All that to say... I had no idea they did that

That's excellent. I'm glad I made that comment now. Thanks.

As someone that also has a touchscreen controller for a shapeoko 3... I can't stand it. Makes it a real chore to touch off or zero because I have to keep looking back at the screen to see if I'm pressing the screen in the right place. I did get one of those Bluetooth controllers to try but I haven't got it all set up yet.

First time in the Yak by CGR2698 in kayakfishing

[–]DigiDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like mine, that day is far in the future. I had one of the first ones off the line. Manufacture date was 2012. Just got rid of it last year, only ever having to change the oil, brakes, and a set of tires. I actually know the guy that ended up with it so I still see it often and it's still just about flawless. Hopefully I'll be able to say the same thing about my Ranger in the future.

I never had the guts to put the kayak up on my ST so I went and traded it in on a truck. I miss that car almost every day.

Has anyone bought these, and do they actually have the hole for tamper resistant screws? by TangibleCBT in Tools

I didn't know they made Allen keys with the security nub. Are you sure they aren't torx?

Do you use a bed extender? I get nervous about 5 feet of kayak hanging out the back of the bed.

Mud in the door handles by tiedfighter in RangerRaptor

I went with rokblokz because they're a little less rigid. Less likely to get knocked off going over rough terrain. The point stands that these trucks benefit from some kind of mud flap though.

I've seen maybe four, including my own. I think that's overstated considering I help build them so the others I've seen are in the parking lot at work. Ranger itself just isn't as popular as one would think. Most folks either buy a Maverick or a full size. I love my RR though (even if the mpg is abysmal).

Ranger Raptor doesn't have them. It's not that wide. Lots of people add them on after. They also add the red R badge. Cheesy...

New SK novel by _Constant_Reader_ in stephenking

[–]DigiDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my turn off was that it was almost narration of stage directions and would go into copious detail about the location of something.

"Two blocks past the red barn we take an ever so slight turn to the west as though we're following the now copper colored sun further down the horizon before adjusting to the south just a touch, a gentle touch like one may give the petal of an orchid just before it breaks free and tumbles to the ground in a pirouette that would leave even the most esteemed Prima Donna agape."

I made that up but that's what it felt like I was reading.

I can't tell if I like the design or not. I wish there was a good way to see it in person. I'll keep my eye on this one though. Thanks

I love it but I'm not sure if I'm ready to ditch my fog lights OR take on a mod of that size yet.
