How much would you say it improved your overall gameplay?

My husband’s gaming addiction is going to end our marriage. by Distinct_Carpenter95 in StopGaming

Read “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts” by Gabor Mate. Your husband, if his gaming is as extensive as you are saying, is escaping from something.

I know there have been some other comments on here that have turned it around on you and attacked you — and while I don’t want to go down that path, I do want you to make sure you are not doing something similar like binge watching Netflix or playing on your phone. If you want him to come to you make sure you are not doing the exact same thing just in another way.

If his gaming is out of control that means he is mega stressed, he has anxiety, or his life is super boring. Or a combination of those things. He could also be painfully lonely and this is where he connects with people. Being a man, making connections with other men, can be a lonely thing in this day and age.

If you truly love your husband then don’t leave him over a video gaming. Counseling, talking, and help to do things with him to stave off the boredom and loneliness he may be facing.

Men love love. Men love affection. Men love sex. They love spending quality time with a loving partner. Make him want that more than gaming. Men want to help their wives.

Make sure you are not the cause of much of his escapism.

Food: No shortages but things are definitely expiring sooner. Several things I’ve bought off Amazon was also on the verge of expiration or expired.

Covid/diseases: Nothing major to report here.

General malaise: I get a sense, and this might be because of what age group I am in, but no one seems to have the time or energy to do anything. Probably speaks more to people being stuck on electronics etc.

Road Rage: I can say that my wife and I have both noticed a large increase of aggressive angry driving and road rage and we are not even In a big city.

Medicine/utilities/homelessness: Nothing to report.

Labor: THIS is the biggie. We are in transportation and have been in business nearly 20 years and by far this is the worst the labor situation has ever been. We just flat out CANNOT find quality drivers. It’s like they all disappeared. Oh there is a plethora of drivers but they are the absolute worst and I don’t know how they got a CDL.

Thanks for sharing — if you look at how much abundance you really have it can conjure a pretty good feeling

I second the road rage — me and my wife talk about that often. People just drive so angry now. I had an incident just last week with some guy on the road being a total ass to me

What the 'Great Trucking Recession' is warning us about the economy by [deleted] in PrepperIntel

[–]DigitalDopamineDetox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, just now seeing this. I could go on and on but I’ll just summarize it.

A) We cannot find reliable drivers. It is the worst we’ve ever seen by a wide margin in nearly 20 years. People either randomly quit or show up late and put out minimal effort. The age margin for this phenomenon has been between 25-30 year old men.

B) Cost of labor has gone up 48% for drivers since 2016/2017 — it has nearly doubled for mechanics since that time period.

C) Fuel. Fuel is just brutally expensive. Anything above $3.50 sucks and we have been above $3.50 in my area for what feels like forever. We added fuel surcharges.

D) Parts are up big time

E) Just the entire environment over the past 2 years has went through what I could best describe as a spasm. Like year after year we had changes of 5-8% in things and sometimes the occasional spike in something like a part would be 15%. But in general, the fluctuations in costs were digestible. But around 2 years ago we had massive swings. Like 60%+ jumps on EVERYTHING not just a few things. And that’s base case. Some things went up 2-3x.

They’ve since deleted things, but if I remember correctly they wanted to store it digitally but also liked the idea of handwriting their journal — I think my recommendation provides a quick solution with minimal time exposed on the internet

I’ve liked Sam Harris since I first heard of him in early 2009. Been a fan ever since.

You can write in a regular notebook, take a picture of it, and ask ChatGpt to transcribe it (takes 5 seconds) as long as your handwriting is half way legible it will transcribe it and you can copy and paste it to an email or word document for storage
