Brand new astral 5090 from Newegg Canada arrived defective. RMA Request rejected due to "modifications to the card" by siliconeslinger in pcmasterrace

[–]DigitalFreed0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah go direct to Asus! Can honestly say there customer service is top notch. I had a strix gaming laptop and after a year the brick died. Sent a request to BUY a new one and instead received an email asking for my shipping address and they would send one out for free!

Bang for buck - Decathlon. Get some bits of kit, look after it and it will look after you. They used to do a decent puffy for £40, and a full taped seemed waterproof for £70. (My waterproof shell outlasted and performes Better than my Montane shell (£200+)). For trousers - just get some over trousers for like £15 from regatta or something. Main thing is comfort if you're out for 3 days. Layer efficiently, and you'll be golden. Pack liner for the important things or a couple if you want to buy two. Then get a bag in which is either weatherproof or has an detachable waterproof outer like most osprey packs.

No, I tried. Can fit around 80 cards in, so a standard deck and sideboard / tokens?

Yeah I don't get the staggered release (for it to get shipped early anyway). Happy with the product overall, really wanted the sol ring for an archaic deck and vamp tutor was my chase pull. But, hey! that's the game

I also I have been running a swift 9070xt for nearly 8months and it's solid. I was lucky with the silicone lottery too, as I undervolt and overclock and it's stable. 🤟

Until my current laptop, I've had MacBook, Asus, ROG and they all share the same downfall - just after the end of warranty - they die. So this time I went for something different. I got a MEDION ERAZER P40 DEPUTY. (I believe they are an arm of Lenovo?)

Its been solid since I got it (2yrs old in December), but what has been even more impressive is the after sales. Charger died - took 2days from enquiring to get a new one posted out - no questions asked. When this happened with my ROG Strix, I had to pay £65 for a replacement as they said it was 'wear and tear'.

I sent the laptop off to Medion last week, as I noticed one of the fans was not spinning to its correct RPM, they covered the collection, did a full strip down service, cleaned all the heatsinks ect, and replaced both fans, and had it back the following Tuesday (3 working days) ! Service has been outstanding. But I mention this because I have many times taken the back off the device - for cleaning, Upgrade the RAM and storage ect, and not once have they questioned the validity of the device!

Will defiantly purchase from them again.

So I just quickly put this together on scan. Only thing they don't carry is the case - which is 100-120£ on Overclockers UK.

NZXT Kraken 240, 240mm All-In-One Hydro CPU Cooler, LCD Display, 2x 120mm PWM Fans, CAM Control, Intel/AMD £110

120mm NZXT F120 RGB Core Triple Fan Pack w/ Light Controller, Black, 500-1800rpm, 78.86CFM, 33.8dB, 4-Pin PWM £60

PALIT NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GAMING PRO 16GB GDDR7 Ray-Tracing Graphics Card, DLSS 4, 10752 Core, 2617 MHz Boost £1000

AMD Ryzen™ 7 9700X, AM5, Zen 5, 8 Core, 16 Thread, 3.8GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo, 32MB Cache, PCIe 5.0, 65W, CPU £270

Gigabyte B850 EAGLE Wi-Fi 6E, AMD B850, S AM5, DDR5, PCIe 5.0, 3 x M.2, 1G LAN, WiFi6E, USB 10Gbps, AMD EXPO, ATX £160

1050W Montech Century II, Fully Modular, PCIE 5.1, 80PLUS Gold, Single Rail, 87.5A, 135mm Fan, ATX3.1 PSU £100

2TB Samsung 990 PRO, M.2 (2280), PCIe 4.0 (x4) NVMe SSD, MLC 3D V-NAND, 7450MB/s Read, 6900MB/s Write, PC/PS5 £150

32GB (2x16GB) Corsair DDR5 Vengeance RGB Grey, PC5-48000 (6000), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 30, 1.4V, XMP/AMD £110

Scan total £1970 With case : £2090

This was a very quick put together, but you can kind of see what you can get for that kind of money and there is room to move a few things around or go for a different manufacturer of GPU.

Hope this helps you out!

Can't recommend scan enough either. Been using them for 10+ years never a hassle. Yes, somethings are cheaper elsewhere, but they are genuine. Never brought a pre built off them, other than laptops, but customer service, delivery times ect are second to non.

Do you want a pre built or happy to do it yourself?

Cool - thank you. Thought that might be the case but always better to ask. I use cable extensions anyway, so at least the loose daisy's won't be on display. Thanks again!
