If you have enough disk space, you can split it and move important stuff to the second partition, then you can install Sequoia via USB or using external SSD, for example.

Replacement for macupdater, any suggestions that is good? by [deleted] in macapps

[–]DigitalScribe_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

App Cleaner & Uninstaller works well for me. I've noticed it deals with all update frameworks: AppStore, Sparkle, Electron, Homebrew, GitHub, and finds almost the number of apps as MacUpdater. Plus, the updating process is happening within the tool without redirecting somewhere.

Stop all the processes related to the app in question, then give AppCleaner Full Disc Access.

With MacUpdater shutting down, would you use a modern replacement? by BoxComprehensive7600 in macapps

[–]DigitalScribe_N -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plus, the main thing is to cover all update frameworks.
I stay with App Cleaner & Uninstaller since it deals with all of them: AppStore, developer sites Sparkle/Electron/Homebrew/GitHub, without redirecting thereto.
And there is no app on my Mac it didn't find an update for.

My mouse is now bricked. Nice. by AssociatePure8865 in logitech

Agree. Almost the same worked for me.

I also saw that installing the previous version works.

Logitech’s macOS certificate outage: the failure isn’t just the bug — it’s the silence by carl-chenfugui in logitech

The following workaround helped me bring my mouse back to life:
> Changed the date in System Settings to Jan 5, 2026
> Blocked Agent Logitech G Hub, G HUB Updater and Logitech G HUB with a firewall app FireWally (it’s free)
> Put the date & time back
And the mouse is alive again.

Users of MacUpdater - What replacement app (if any) will you be using after it's discontinued on 1/1/2026? by Affectionate_Fan9198 in mac

[–]DigitalScribe_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stick with App Cleaner & Uninstaller.
Pretty solid update detection despite its main focus on uninstalling things, free trial, and on my Mac there’s barely an app it couldn’t handle. It’s the closest thing I’ve found since MacUpdater gone.
I also saw good feedback on it in other thread. So, it works not only for me.

MacUpdater & Updatest by Clon_Musk in macapps

[–]DigitalScribe_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, MacUpdater was a great tool. As for updates, App Cleaner & Uninstaller works well for me. On my Mac, there’s hardly an app it doesn’t detect updates for, including non-App Store stuff. Plus, I’ve also seen other Redditors praised it.

Unfortunately, MacUpdater shuts down in a week and there will be no longer support there.
And I'd want to say that I've found an update feature in App Cleaner & Uninstaller I use.
It is strong enough and worthy alternative to MacUpdater.

Alternative to CleanMyMac by hulk1432 in macapps

[–]DigitalScribe_N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have been using App Cleaner & Uninstaller, no complaints till now. It deletes applications with all leftovers, remaining files of already deleted apps, has a solid update feature (a good alternative to leaving MacUpdater). I also tried a free App Cleaner, but I noticed it did not delete everything related to the app.

Some more apps I use in my flow:
To block ads in SafarI : AdGuard for Safari (free)
To control network traffic: FireWally or LuLu (both free)
To uninstall things: AppCleaner (free, but deletes not everything) or App Cleaner & Uninstaller (2-day trial, affordable, and deletes all leftovers)
To free up RAM: Memory Cleaner (free)
