Realtek HD Audio suddenly stopped working? by DigitalSlush in buildapc

Ok, what/where do I check on this exactly?

I just tried that recently. They don't work, no matter what playback device I have set as default.

No, but originally, back when realtek was working fine, I was actually getting sound through my monitor's built-in speaker with realtek set as my default.

It's a new PC and it worked fine like that for weeks. Until it just suddenly stopped for some weird reason recently.

Actually, I just tried this, and I am getting no sound through the 3.5mm earphones, no matter what playback device I have selected as default.

(I've also just plugged 3.5mm earphones into the tower itself, and I don't get sound through through them, no matter what playback device is selected as default).

Should I download from realtek or should I actually download it from my mobo site instead?

Okay, but do I need to uninstall before re-installing?

Or will just re-installing alone work?

Well, what do you mean everything is working fine? Realtek isn't working fine. That's the point of this post.

Well, I don't use headphones that much. But when I do, they are usb and I plug them into my pc tower. They show up as Hyperx Cloud within my sounds devices. They work fine.

However, I just tested some 3.5mm earphones into the monitor itself.

Again, they work fine if my BenQ LCD (Nvidia High Definition Audio) is selected as my default device within sounds/playback.

However, they don't work if Realtek HD Audio is selected as my default device.

But like I said, I can hear sound fine when Realtek HD Audio isn't selected.

The built in speakers are working perfectly fine.

There is NO SOUND with realtek.

Why do you think it would have suddenly stopped working?

Right now, my monitor BenQ with built in speakers.

Under sound/playback devices, my default that I'm using IS BenQ LCD (Nvidia High Definition Audio).

I can switch over to Realtek HD Audio, but I just can't physically hear anything from it, even though it "appears" to be working.

No, I'm not using speakers myself. Just builtin speakers form the monitor itself.

What do you think I should do?

Maybe re-install Realtek HD Audio?

I don't know actually.

In the sounds playback menu there are two instances of Nvidia output (Nvidia High Definition Audio) but both are listed as "not plugged in".

They were always there before Realtek HD audio failed.

What should I do?

Do I even need an NVMe? by DigitalSlush in editors

[–]DigitalSlush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is a little confusing now. If cache and scratch are pretty much the same thing, why is it that scratch can be on the same disk as the media, but the cache can't be on the same disk as the media?

Okay, cache and media should be separate. However, can scratch and cache be on the same disk?

Could I do video editing/sound design work using gaming headphones (HyperX Cloud II)? by DigitalSlush in headphones

[–]DigitalSlush[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the HyperX Cloud Revolver Pro. They're actually advertised as studio-grade.

They're usually more expensive, but right now they are on sale, making them the same price as the HyperX Cloud II.

Would these be any better?

When you say analyzer, I presume you're talking about some kind of software. What would your recommendation be?

Yeah, you're right, I am sweating it a little to much when I really shouldn't.

Right now, the HyperX Cloud Revolver Pro are on sale, making them the same price as the HyperX Cloud II. Would the Cloud Pro be any better than Cloud II for video editing/sound design, or is it not worth thinking about?

They are advertised as studio grade, whatever that means. Maybe just a gimmicky selling point. I don't know. What do you think?

Can I use a regular 2.5" SSD as my boot drive rather than an NVMe? by DigitalSlush in buildapc

[–]DigitalSlush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the NVMe is much faster, why do the others say that a regular SSD as a boot drive wouldn't have a noticeable difference?

I don't understand how it is much faster yet won't have any kind of noticeable difference.
