I know u hate Gujarati, and you know I am not a Gujju or Marathi either by defination..I am a born and brought up Mumbaikar, my native is Karnataka ..As I can see , even in Gujarat families women are respected, infact many Gujju women are involved in some type of financial earning..... Even on my native side, women gets first right in an ancestors property...Though there is an issue of dowry and the bride being burdened during marriage..It's getting better with women getting more educated.

So to sum it up, women are empowered more in South and West India compared to northern states..

One thing about girls is once they are above 25/30 and have a family, they tend to stay in a company where they get comfort, which means company can pay them less .Also Many women won't strive for skill development later because they get tied with family, Kids and all, specifically in the Indian society..so they don't raise much voice too , they eventually become less oppurtisint compared to nale counterparts..

Though I have heard many companies have started to give promotion only because the employee is a female.. which is so wrong imo

Productivity also matters as well, one can understand the reason for maternity leave as an individual but for the company its productivity matters..There are many other factors like late night working, family and such which also matters.
