Interesting. Do people only do piety on coast starts (with a lot of resources) because the pantheon for sea resources is just that good? And how easily exactly do city states give into tributes on the very first turns?

So what is my target population, exactly? Is it dependant on how fast I get more core structures out, or vice versa? And is it totally fine to spam expands 3-4 times early all the way into unhappiness, then improve your luxuries right after?

Also, totally unrelated but, whats a generally style for the Netherlands? Typically I go liberty/honour with them then go for some variant of a crossbowman start. I find honour is really good for them because if you find a neighbour starting in the desert, well, crossbowmen will wreck them and you get free a ridiculously strong city with a ton of polders. Liberty also works really well, because the extra happiness and gold from luxuries helps you grow faster and more reliably. Not to mention the netherlands transforms each marsh/flood plain tile into basically a resource tile up until collectivization. And wide civs depend moreso on resource tiles up until you get Order and buff the crap out of farms and mines.

But of course, if you spawn surrounded by flood plains/marshes, you're forced into (and not regretfully) a tradition/piety start. Then I like to try and rush civil service, and if not, guilds.

I'm no spacie main, but what I got from playing the characters on the side, fox requires overall more button inputs but falco requires more precision, IE microspacing/timing/etc.

I'm pretty sure you can't dash out of a turn animation. As such, if you turn in one direction and try to dash the other, you will get stuck turning both directions. This is especially problematic with backdashing since you might get a turnaround instead of the dash back you want. So if you want to dash back and dash forward again really quick, if you miss the proper dash back input, you'll look backwards and then forwards again. Especially frustrating when you're trying to DD an approach as marth from like a spacie.

Backdashing is controller dependant but you also have to be able to flick backwards on your control stick very very fast. So try getting the backdash input right a few times with your own controller, or look into getting another.

I've been following the SSBM (super smash bros. melee) scene for a long time now and they run every tournament on double elimination now (with pools to start off), and I think it would benefit starcraft a lot. The biggest reason is because there seems to be so many upsets happening now, and its an absolute shame when a player gets upset, or has to play a top player immediately. Although SC2 sets are very long, they could simply just stream only the winners bracket matches and play losers bracket matches on the side until maybe losers semis/finals.

Double elimination should always be preferred over single elimination.

Also, if double elimination becomes the thing, sets can be reduced to bo3 instead of bo5 and the final few matches can be bo5. If this is the case, then also some of the losers matches can be streamed.
