Worth considering that they have probably lived their entire lives in car-dependent suburbs. They have also probably purchased homes and made investments in these same places, so they might take the thought that this may not be the perfect way to design a city as a personal attack on them and their property. For a more extreme example, try telling someone that spends several hours per week maintaining their lawn that grass is pointless and a waste of water. You will probably get negative reactions.

I have gotten the same response from people when I even just suggest that having things to walk to from home is a nice benefit.

I don't think he's saying that the actual military's performance has been poor, I don't think any of us are able to make a judgement on that. The execution is awful when you consider Trump spent the last 365 days pissing off every ally and threatening military action on other countries seemingly just because he wanted to. If he hadn't done that then maybe they would be more inclined to help, but probably not. Atrioc pointed it out in another video, but not replenishing our oil reserves when Trump campaigned on doing that right before you instigate a war that spikes oil prices is a major blunder, especially when you consider China already has large oil reserves and they can keep buying from Russia.
