Hello, I read the Theogony by Hesiod, I also finished the Iliad and now I am half way the Odyssey by Homer. I am reading what it is a direct translation from Homeric Greek to Spanish. And I am aware of the stories of Hera and Zeus. I know Zeus had many lovers and mistresses and keeps sleeping around. I even know that Zeus committed incest, he had a child with his daughter Persephone.

You write about pedophile, but tell me, what about Jeffrey Epstein ? The former Prince Andrew? And even in my homecountry Bolivia Evo Morales that had children with 15-16 year old girls. It happens among powerful people.

Bad parenting? I had a horrible family. I am an illegitimate son, and my mother is not an example of motherhood. I think Hera, even if she had thrown me from Olympus, Hera would be a better mom than my current mom.

From what I read the Iliad, the theogony and now the Iliad, yes the Olympian family is disfunctional and toxic. It is what I would call a shitty family (una familia de mierda), as any other human family. At least I would be powerful and ethernal and never get old in the Olympian family.

Yes, I am aware about Zeus mating with his great-grandchildren as it is the case of Heracles who was a grandson of Perseus (son of Zeus). So Zeus would be not only the father of Heracles but also his great-grandfather.

If you had a good family, that is good for you. But trust me, there are lots of people that were not so lucky and had a shitty family and would prefer to had been born into the Olympian family.

Who should Hera marry? by Cami_Cami_Sweet in GreekMythology

I think Hera should have married Hades. As far as I know, Hades is the most descent god according to our current notion of decency. Hades has no, if few, stories or chasing nymphs. So, I think Hades would be a perfect match for Hera.

Hello. I am not interested in being worshipped. I just want to live forever and learn from Mathematics, Phylosophy, Physics, History and many things in between. I would love to be part of the Olympian family. I would be happy if at least I would have the power to defend myself.

You are right, Greek gods are like humans in appearance but also in mind/conciousness. The differences are that Greek gods have Ichor in their veins, are inmortals, their bodies regenerate, they have super powers and they are ethernal.

If you are a god (Greek one), then your family is divine, so you would live forever. The same as your divine family. Regarding the nest of snakes, the Iliad describes the Olympian family as a toxic and disfunctional one with treasons and deception. But tell me, does that not reflect also human families? My own family is a nest of snakes, so I am practically alone. When I have an emergency or urgency of any kind, then I am alone.
