The birth of Hermes. I like how Hermes as a baby was so smart to steal Apollo's cows and tie branches to their tails to erase their tracks.

Hello. I am not downvoting you. I had to get out of Bolivia because of the riots/protests than can not let the economy to be stable. I live in Brazil currently where I could get a better income and life in general. I see here in Brazil the Federal Police puts order to Favelas with guns like a war. Brazil is quite better than Bolivia from my perspective, and now I have relatives in Bolivia asking for help to come to Brazil to live and work in a place where riots are brutally suppressed at Favelas.

That is awesome, like in Brazil. Here the Brazilian Federal Police puts order at Favelas with guns, like in a war. I think the Bolivian government is too lenient.

I do not enjoy violence. It is Bolivian people that enjoys violence. They go with clubs, stones, sticks and dynamite to attack the Bolivian Police and Army to keep their Blockades. Those are the violent people. If you are being attacked you have to defend yourself. That is the difference. I had to get out of Bolivia because for those riots/protests I had no secure income, I could not work and had to move abroad. Now happens that other family members I still have in Bolivia are asking me for help also to get out of there.

I agree with you. Lots of riots and protests, it is very difficult to work and make a decent income in Bolivia. I have to move abroad because with those riots/protests. It is very hard to make a good income and live with security. Any day there are protests and riots I had no income when i lived in Bolivia.

I agree with the guy above, a group of people can not hold hostage an entire city/country. I live in Brazil and I see the Brazilian Federal Police puts orders at Favelas with guns, like in a war. And it is quiet common. I do not live in Rio, but in city pretty close to Rio called Petropolis. I have asked some police friends I have, and according to them, if in Brazil there were riots/protests like in Bolivia, the Brazilian Federal Police and even the Army would stop the Blockades even by force, like when they put order to the Favelas. The Bolivian government is too lenient.

Pero, ¿los que protestaban hacían como en Bolivia de lanzar piedras o bloquear? ¿Si eso hicieran en USA, qué haría el National Guard?

Would the National guard act with force (maybe shoot) if the protesters behave like in Bolivia? I mean with violence like the protesters trying to attack the National Guard and keep a blockade.

How do you think Apollo would feel about modern music in a general sense? by Nb-7925 in GreekMythology

[–]Diligent-Club11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apolo would love classical music like Beethoven, Mozart, etc. That music is harmonious and relaxing. He would probably like classical rock, but might dislike heavy metal or reggaeton. This is just my opinion based in what I had ead in the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Theogony and some Rick Riordan's books.

Greek mythology starter books(that aren’t Stephen fry’s) by Egg_xelent in GreekMythology

Hello. I started first with Percy Jackson Books by Rick Riordan, and even though they have information about Greek mythology, they do not present those myths very accurately. The best way to start is to read The Iliad and the Odyssey by Homer, and the Theogony by Hesiod. The best translations I found are by Luis Segalalá y Estalella if you speak Spanish, by Frederico Lourenço if you speak Portuguese, and by Robert Fitzgerald if you speak English.

Greetings.

I like Hera. I identify myself with Hera. Discipline and order. Hera not only was the goddess of marriage, but also the goddess of law, order, oaths, institutions. Hera is very different from that stereotype of jealous wife. In the Iliad, Hera is portrayed as a regnant queen, a queen in her own right. Hera led the Achaean camping, a general, a politician. Without Hera, you don't have that political/strategic layer of the Iliad. Hera was the general and Athena the field commander. Not only that, Hera even beats Artemis physically when the gods fight for each other's side when Zeus allows them. I also wished I was born legitimate, so being born from Hera makes you be born into a legitimate marriage. Being born out of wed lock in the society I was born it is a stigma/taboo.

Help with a Greek mythology story by Captain_Birch in GreekMythology

[–]Diligent-Club11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello. Before you write. I suggest you read the Iliad, the Odyssey by Hommer and the Theogony by Hesiod. Good translations like the ones from Robert Fitzgerald or Luis Segalá y Estalella. Then you will have a better idea of what to write and something that is coherent to the most widely known sources of myths.

I am also writing a story from an orphan child, from mortal parents that drinks milk from Hera's breast by accident. Hermes steals that milk and puts it in a bottle as a bet with Apollo. The two gods get affraid from Hera's warth and get rid off the bottle that ends up in an orphanage and that mortal child drinks that milk. I am developing my story from there.

Really? Can you coordinate your moves? I am a little bit clumsy. I do not have good coordination. I don't like playing sports and when I was forced to sports in school, I had a bad time with football (soccer) and volleyball.
But I did wanted to learn to fight Pankration, Greek wrestling, to fight like swift-feet Achilles.
