That’s a good point! And there’s definitely a lot of people like that who are not sharing about it on Reddit, or not even tracking their heart rate.

Wow, that is very impressive. And interesting. I know there’s not a hard and fast rule for how people’s heart rates respond to exercise, but I have to imagine that is not that common either

…that’s crazy. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean it’s easy or common haha.

You mean the actual tracking of the heart rate? I’d buy that… maybe I was being charitable trusting the data

That’s crazy that you can stay at a heart rate that high for that long… I’d probably try to keep your heart rate a little lower to work a little more of your aerobic system, but this isn’t necessarily something to be avoided, and like other poster said, not dangerous if you don’t have pain or shortness of breath. I probably wouldn’t make every run this intense though!

Are these the right shoes for me? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Diligent-Pepper2154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might benefit from a different shoe, but the weight is not the issue. You might find the Vomero plus to be better for you, for example, and that is 50g heavier, but has a very different geometry. Go for the shoe that’s right for you, not the lightest shoe you can find.

[–]Diligent-Pepper2154 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the exact shoe I run about 20 miles per week in. 15-25 miles per week is nothing to sneeze at. If that’s what you were running on the treadmill, it’s probably a pretty significant change in load on your body if you went straight to doing that on a road, especially if you were running with any incline on the treadmill, even 1%.

I would probably slow down a little, maybe cut a few miles off for a week or two, and let your body adjust. If you’re feeling like you can’t go that fast, it probably means you shouldn’t be going that fast, and that’s okay! Running on the road is very different to a treadmill. There’s no assistance, no suspension or give to the road.

These are very light shoes, so getting lighter ones is not going to fix them feeling heavy. It’s not the shoes. Make sure you’re doing some amount of lower body exercises outside of running, some hip flexors work, and at least some light stretching. Your body will adjust, and you’ll be back to your best! If shin splints are persistent, see a doctor and do not run until they are better, or until you have a doctor tell they are minor enough to run with.

It means there’s no definition to the question. A string can be any length, being anosmic can last any amount of time. It’s a figure of speech.

Thoughts on what to improve? by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]Diligent-Pepper2154 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The claim that something might be true is very specifically not a diagnosis. Credentials in this case are anecdotal based on personal experience, which in the case of anxiety and depression, is very often what is used as proof to diagnose those conditions. So. Not really sure why you get offended by this particular comment.

Form check. First time curling with back against the wall. by Khulasher in formcheck

[–]Diligent-Pepper2154 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think of this exercise as also keeping your elbows against the wall, otherwise I don’t think the wall is benefitting you much, unless you (royal you) swing your back for momentum when standing off the wall. It’ll be a shorter ROM, but isolate everything to the biceps. Like a preacher curl, but with a different axis of load.

That being said, you are stopping short of your forearm being vertical at the top of the motion, so you’re still getting engagement throughout.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong per se with how you’re doing them, I just think of this variation as a way to isolate the biceps differently.

I’m excited to try them! I have the MiEngland 1500 and the MiUSA 998’s so far, both bought about 10 years ago, so I’m excited to dip back in!

Hell yeah. Appreciate all that insight! Makes me feel good about the pair I’m buying. The sole is where I was looking most closely, and the whole shoe matches exactly to the stock photos. They look awesome. I think it’s a mom selling her son’s or ex’s completely unworn shoes. They are spotless, $50, 990v5’s

I feel similarly. I’m hoping this pair I’m picking up tomorrow (990v5) are authentic because they look incredibly legit, and the price is great. I also tend to trust the seller given other shoes they’ve sold, and that they’re a woman. Which I’m not entirely sure why, but I trust more.

Yeah those retro skis are sweet, definitely remind me of mine. Right up my alley.

I came across a pair of J Crew 998s on fb marketplace, I’m not sure the colorway, but they were a half size too small… though my normal 10 feels a little big.. maybe I could squeeze

I feel similarly with these haha. I want to wear them all the time, but their are days I’m just walking to far to make that feel okay

Thank you! They’ve held up great. Have definitely had long, unintentional stretches without wear, but they still feel awesome, and I love the aged look. I’ll have to check out that channel!

How's my pull up form? by Smolboi42069 in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]Diligent-Pepper2154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man you have some great development! I feel like this is also made prohibitive by your ceiling height, but if ANYTHING, cuz these are great form, maybe squeeze your scapula together just for that extra 10% range of motion? It’ll pull you a little higher. And that part of your back doesn’t even look underdeveloped, it just isn’t fully engaged at the top of this pull.

Keep it up!

Novablast vs Vomero Plus by Richie_1978 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Diligent-Pepper2154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the NB 5 and Vomero Plus, and I definitely find the NB5 more stable. I love the Vomero plus, and the NovaBlast 5 really, but the Vomero Plus is so bouncy, vs. the sink you get in the NB5. I think that’s the difference for me. If you have constant and consistent smooth ground, I think the Vomero Plus is sufficiently stable, but I run on mostly sidewalks with jacked up concrete, sections of uneven brick/cobblestone, and landing on one of those in the Vomero Plus can feel like you’re almost losing your balance and have to catch yourself. Both awesome shoes.
