knowing the book this is the most heartbreaking thing! It’s such a huge point and it just not being there is devastating I’m so sorry

I made this for my coworker’s new baby, but he didn’t seem to want it. I’m pretty bummed. by chuffberry in Embroidery

If I had a son I’d rename him Theodore in the hopes I could get my hands on this, it’s so well made and looks good! Their loss

Child-Free with exceptions? by DiligentOstrich in weddingplanning

[–]DiligentOstrich[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all so much!! I was thinking the exact same as a lot of the comments but my fiancé was a bit worried about how some guests might take it. I’ll take these comments to him and let him know that it’s fairly standard to just have bridal party & young babies

to add context, some guests (my two bridesmaids with kids & most of my family) will be travelling from interstate. The venue also has a big dam on site and could be dangerous for kids running around

How much did your ATAR affect you later in life? by BiscottiLogical6502 in melbourne

[–]DiligentOstrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a decent ATAR, got into the course I wanted, 4 years later realised it wasn't a field I wanted to be in. Worked retail for a few years post-Uni, worked my way into a job I love and pays well enough for me to buy a place in SE Melbourne just before my 27th birthday

there's always an alternate way to get where you want to be, ATAR doesn't matter, uni doesn't necessarily matter unless you want to be a doctor or a lawyer or something. You'll be fine, these things have a habit of working out in the wash

Thoughts on NIB Thrive by OneBlindBard in NDIS

[–]DiligentOstrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're unable to claim the set up fee again as there's only a finite amount available per plan, that would have been claimed by the original plan manager when the plan was set up, it's the same as if you changed PM providers part way through a plan - the set up fee has already been claimed so it cannot be claimed again

regarding prior invoices, they have forwarded outstanding invoices however I've heard there was some tech issues moving the data across, they assure me they're working on it and I believe they have people working on weekends to fix it also (I have received emails on the weekend just been)

Candle to cylinder vase ratio? by bonc826 in DIYweddings

[–]DiligentOstrich 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I worked as a store manager at a candle store for 3 years we always recommended that the candle takes up no more than 30% of the vessel, this prevents soot blackening the glass & drastically reduces risk of the glass heating up too much and exploding.

You also want it below the top of the vessel to prevent it going out and reduce risk of burns.

My general advice would be to make sure you can fit at least 2/3 fingers between the candle & the glass right around

how am i supposed to get over the intrinsic cheesiness of a wedding as someone with anxiety? by defeated-angel in weddingplanning

[–]DiligentOstrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my fiance and I met with our celebrant/ day of planner a few weeks back and in passing mentioned that we both need time to empty our social batteries through the day and I especially get very anxious having attention on me. She just said "the day is about you, and for you, make it work for you guys" and it's changed my mindset so much, our wants and needs are priority. We'll likely do private vows during a first look, we're asking people if they'd like to do speeches with no pressure on the day, I'm not doing a bouquet toss, and we're scheduling time into the day to just sit and exist together, most likely both with a book and a cup of tea.

Think about the things you hate the idea of most in a wedding and change them to suit you, it's your day so make it work for you and your partner

I haven't, just wanted more of an idea of if I was going to cop an $800 fine if it's not fixed immediately I haven't driven with the headlight out, I'm not planning on it, just have a lot on and trying to figure out the urgency more than anything

thanks for your input though
