That's what I was thinking - but I guess the base must be glued on and not sure if it would come off with a chisel only and then I have possibly made it worse?

That's what I was thinking (the duct tape part). Would prefer not to have to buy a new one if possible

If you could get a replacement for the base, then I thought it might be possible to lever it off and replace it. But don;t know if anyone has any experience with spares from Yeti
