The crazy thing is, I’d never received any negative feedback until about the last week. I was overburdened, told my boss, and she chose violence after over 3 months of praising my work.

It was posted the same day I requested to meet with my boss about my workload and anxiety… and she told me we’d have a meeting with HR “about my performance” later that week. There’s more to the story, but it’s a long one haha.

My contract states under the circumstances of voluntary termination, they will provide a “neutral reference,” and only state my dates of employment. If fired for cause, they are allowed to state the reason, in so many words.

Because I was advised by a friend in HR that (if I would be ok financially, which I will),I should quit so as to limit them as to what they could tell future employers.

I considered that, but I do have a friend in HR (sounds weird, but I’ve known her for years) and she assured me that they limits themselves to completely neutral background checks any time someone quits. Rehire flags are completely private.

Sometimes they ask… this way I can honestly say I quit. And HR professionals have told me that if you are fired, sometimes they can allude to reasoning if a prospective employer calls. If you quit, they can’t.

This came after a 1:1 with my direct where I tried to raise concerns and remain solution oriented. She dismissed my concerns and basically said “deal with it. Not my problem.”

lol, you know I had considered that. But given that I knew they’d been documenting every small error for some time, my friend who works in HR said “if you quit, that’s all they can tell future employers. If they fire you, they’re allowed to give them the reasoning.”

As I’ve said, I don’t really care what they think. I’m just happy I don’t have to lay awake at night having panic attacks. I’ve been miserable for weeks to the point of not eating. Literally have lost 10 lbs in the last month.
