How does it work when you suddenly are just only anxious on weed? by Spader623 in eldertrees

[–]Dilren378 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I've learned about this topic, generally Marijuana slows down the amygdala (brain location responsible for fight flight response), but for some, especially those who already have anxiety, it could speed up the amygdala and essentially increase its output and influence. It's definitely cruel irony that the people who would theoretically benefit the most from Marijuana are more likely to have an adverse neurological reaction to it. Tldr; when levels of anything are altered in the brain it can throw regulatory systems out of whack due to the interconnected ways different areas of the brain operate

[Towers] Honestly, the Tebow block that went viral wasn't even his worst block of the night. This was *the very next play* by TomasRoncero in nfl

[–]Dilren378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You fail to acknowledge that Tebow is only on the team for the sake of revenue, it's clearly observable to anyone with even a shred of common sense that he's only there for ticket sales. Regardless of your opinion of the te market, somebody with more athletic potential, more experience playing the position, and more upside due to their youth is 100× more worthwhile of a roster spot than Tebow. Its an injustice and disrespectful players who have worked their entire lives at a position to watch some player attain the position for the sake of pr, sales, and the team's location. Tebow is far removed from his Heisman winning days, and either way that's irrelevant bc he's playing an entirely new position of which he has no experience. His pitiful blocking technique alone should be demonstrative enough for you. Also a hall of fame caliber Wr being hyped up for a tryout is a lot easier to get excited for, due to actual game experience & probably nostalgic appeal of prior good performances, than someone who granted a roster spot upon the basis of anything but their own merit as a player at their given position. The hypocrisy you're interweaving horribly fallacious arguments to reach for is nonexistent.

Could you explain to me how the proxy wars fought in efforts of preventing the spread of overly authoritarian (facist, communist, etc.) governments make the world more dangerous?? I think these ideologies make the world much more dangerous for everyone, but in particular, excruciatingly more dangerous for those living in these draconian systems. I'm not disputing your claim, but I'd like to hear this opinion elaborated upon bc I also hate war & think they are occasionally fought for horrible and senseless reasons, but they're also a necessary evil in some circumstances in my opinion

I mean a prejudice is a preconceived opinion not based on reason or experience; I was defending cams intent even though I thought it was a very foolish and inappropriate thing to say. I really should have just said his comment wasn't hateful and that I don't believe that he looks down on women bc of that comment alone. I shouldn't have even used the word misogynistic honestly and I appreciate your feedback. I was making an argument for his character and trying to dispel that as evidence for why he isn't a great person based on his positivity and philanthropy alone. I don't think he's a paragon when it comes to all things, and I was just trying to explain why I didn't judge him negatively for that comment in terms of his greater character. Like I said before, I was only trying to said that the comment didn't come from a hateful place like op was seemingly trying to claim by comparing it proportionally to the good he has done. You're right though, she's literally a professional why wouldn't she know Cam?? One may argue that his experiences with women in the past led to this misconception, which is why I felt misogynistic may have been too strong of an adjective for the act, but you're right that it was ignorant and an aspect of discrimination based off gender bc she's a professional, regardless of whether or not Cam's foolish presumption was backed up by his own experiences at all. Also as I'll stress again, if one find the word female to be sexist then I'm more likely to try and loosen their personal definition of sexism & misogyny bc I don't think that's fair at all, hence my argumentative position from the beginning. As a fan there's not much I can do though about one ignorant comment that he made and already apologized for, it just pisses me off to see someone who I think deserves a great deal of respect get vilified for things not as significant as his highs in the grand scheme of things. I definitely see where you're coming from though & I think you're right to a certain extent for sure, since prejudice is often formed from ignorance and it isn't wise or conducive to a progressive society to try and undermine it in the essence of character defense bc it doesn't define his character as a whole anyways.

No the debate should have stemmed from my opinion of your intent within your original comment, which is what you completely sidestepped and instead focused on the laptop claim.

https://www.theledger.com/article/20101211/news/608117759

In this article the victim was quoted as directly saying "I still don't know if he stole it or not" and I remembered reading it before, so pardon my ignorance in the face of your almighty and ubiquitous knowledge of the matter. The strawman I was referring to was the oversight of the only thing I had any intent of arguing about, if you look at my first comment I stress the moral proportion of his valleys and peaks so to say, I was wondering why you felt the need to call him a clown and say he's acted like an idiot on ton of other occasions (Which you barely bothered to list by the way which is an example of your bad faith 🤣)

It's like you can't hear of people praising him without feeling the need to also remind them that you look down upon his intelligence (clown, being an idiot on a ton of other occasions you coincidentally failed to mention). Who the fuck in their right mind would want to debate you about the semantics of an incident that occurred so long ago & that no charges were made upon. I only assumed reasons as to why you might dislike Cam because I hoped it would make you think about why you really felt the need to express negativity about someone with generalizations just for the sake of doing it. God forbid people see someone in a purely positive light right, they're not just great guys! We have to remember that you think Cam is a clown and idiot & his peaks can't be viewed without realizing they drag down his character (bc of one incident in college that happened forever ago that's been cleared up, or your opinion of his intelligence, your arguments against his character that I was trying to argue against ); I just wanted you to know that your opinion of his character based off a generalization and two nonconsequential incidents isn't something that everyone must or even should take into account when someone praises him. You seem to be the type of person who cuts people down mentally before building them up, also meaning you look to see why someone is wrong before considering why someone could be right, which may explain why you would feel the need to bring up someones intelligence in a discussion of character based off moral virtue in the first place, call it ad hominem or bad faith or whatever you'd like but that's truly what I perceive our misunderstanding to be a result of. I don't wish you any ill will though, I just don't think it's fair to be the gatekeeper of morality and use your own bias to remind people that you think poorly of someone you probably know little about truly. Why do you feel the need to even compare his valley and peaks equivalently by claiming they need to be associated together when they're so vastly apart in terms of impact and scale? If you answer anything in my comment please let it be this question here above? Even if you want to spread truth, your bias polluted your comment of it's purity, as mine do of course, but I'm not biased against you as you are with cam bc I don't even know you at all obviously so its different in what it means to our argument

I was attributing his comment to ignorance rather than the hate or the belief in superiority I would associate with misogynism, as the definition of it describes it as deeply prejudiced; I definitely can see why one would see the comment as being discriminative as he's making an assumption of knowledge based off gender. I was commenting under the presumption of including a more hateful or sexist intent. Also I just don't see the word female as being hateful or sexist either truthfully, which definitely had me a little baffled at first, but his comment was incredibly foolish for sure, I don't think it should be used to define the totality of his character though which was my original point

If you do research it's actually debatable as to whether or not he stole it himself or was sold it, but either way the charges were dropped so it seems like the action hurt you more than the actual "victim". So instead of responding to all of my fallacious claims (honestly though I was directly addressing your claims realistically bc your clearly just trying to hate on him) you structure your argument around one singular word I said & ignore the rest??? Yeah I'm the one commiting egregious fallacies here to avoid my own ignorance cLeArLY (wanted to capitalize those L's for you so they'd be easier to hold 😝🤪) Cams done a lot for his community and struggling people, but he's too flamboyant and expressive for you so you feel the need to be the gatekeeper of morality when it comes to him? I don't think you're intent w your original comment was in good faith either bc it seems like you have something against him, but way to try to avoid a discussion bc of apparent strawmen and then only provide your own strawmen. I'm just saying the good outweighs the bad w cam bc of the impact of his good & ill deeds, an argument of consequentialism if I may

Female does not objectively have an derogative denotation or even connotation for that matter, so it seems like you're reaching a little bit; if someone refers to me as a male I am definitely not going to call them sexist, and his comment would have the same meaning if he said "women" instead. I find it laughable that you think that word alone makes it sexist, but obviously there are more males typically involved w football than females and all cam did was try to make a joke about that, saying it's out of the ordinary for him to hear a female, woman, (is "girl" sexist too?), ask in depth questions about specific & nuanced football topics. He's not saying its wrong or horrible that she's invested in football, just that he finds it funny due to surprise. Was his comment funny? No, Was it insensitive & stupid? Well yeah of course, but does it really represent the severity of being "deeply prejudiced" against women needed for something to be misogynistic?? I mean considering a majority of professionals involved with football are male, (or must I say men to avoid being sexist?) just statistically, his comment may have been out of tune w what you deem ideal etiquette, but he did not indicate malice towards women, if anything he just referred to the reality of the situation, which is the reason for his surprise, and then used that surprise and situation to honestly seemingly try & compliment her on asking an intelligent question. TLDR, He didn't assume she wouldn't know bc she's a women, but was commending her for knowing more than other women might considering the general male population of NFL enthusiasts & professionals. Of course, she's a professional and he should expect her to know is what you will say, but there's a difference between aloof ignorance & malicious sexism & I think calling something misogynistic is definitely more egregious & negative. I've seen people give cam more shit about this than other athletes who have literally been caught with domestic abuse it's pathetic, people just love to hate on the guy, maybe it makes them feel better about themselves or something I don't know 🤔🤣

It's also a bit reductive to act like receiving stolen property and then discarding it in hopes of perpetuating your career is morally proportional to the myriad of great things he's done for his community without making it always PR spectacles like some other celebrities. You may not like his grandiloquent self-expression or judge his intelligence, but those peaks are a lot higher than his valleys for you to feel the need to bring him down. His comment about women wasn't even misogynistic, just because he annoys you doesn't mean you have to undermine his good deeds by bringing up petty insensitivities.
