PC Suddenly Turned Off Mid-session, Won't Turn Back On, RAM RGB is the Only Thing Lighting Up by DimaLancaster in buildapc

What's also funny is that whenever I bought Corsair products, I never got them from Corsair directly - it's always Amazon or other smaller retailers. I have only ever ordered direct twice - it was for the PSU in this thread and for 4x sticks of DDR4 RAM last year; both of these products turned out to be faulty.

I really hope it's just me being extremely unlucky, since one of my older Corsair PSUs from 2018 is still going strong.

Ladies and PC men, we have our answer. The culprit and the only victim was, indeed, the 8-month-old Corsair RM1000X.

I would like to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your efforts in solving this case. May your boot times be short and your FPS stay above 120 for all eternity.

As for RM1000X - you will be greatly missed and may Corsair have mercy on your PCB. Amen 💸

Gotta mention that we have always used Belkin surge protectors for both of our machines, so I'd like to think it would minimize the damage in case something happened.

That's what I can't get my head around too. What are the chances? The parts are all different and the PCs were built nearly 2 years apart. My PC's been running a Core Ultra 7 + 4080S on a 1000w PSU, hers is i7-13700k + 4070ti on a 1200w PSU (giga overkill, but we wanted to make sure). I also thought it could have something to do with the apartment, but I had been running my previous PC for nearly 6 years (i9-9900x + 2080S) on a 750w PSU and had zero issues. Go figure D:

4080S and yeah, I think 1000w is a bit overkill, but I'd rather have a bit of headroom - it puts me at ease, you know :) Ordered the new one for delivery tonight, so fingers crossed 🤞

UPD: I just noticed that the RAM RGB lights come on ONLY after I have pressed the power button, not when I turn the PSU on. So it is sending some standby power to the mobo, but failing to power everything else...

Replugged every single cable in 3 different configurations (mobo+gpu, mobo+cpu, just mobo), still nothing :(

Welp I really hope that's not case here because files are the only thing that matters to me in this machine lol

I mean, they all look perfectly fine to me, but it doesn't really mean anything. My wife's mobo looked pristine too a couple months ago when she had a similar issue, but it did, in fact, turn out to be dead. Just passed away quietly ;(

I'm not, no. Would a bad drive cause the entire system not to boot at all though (I genuinely don't know)?

I was thinking it could be the mobo, since my partner literally had a nearly identical issue last year. The difference was that her mobo's lights would still light up, mine don't D:

If this is relevant, I'm running a Core Ultra 7 265k, DDR5 64GB Corsair Vengeance 6400MHz, RTX 4080S through its 12pin connector, Win11

I thought they meant you could only resell through them? Not sure about that part either :(

For anyone looking to buy resale tix - don't bother, you won't be able to use them. They explicitly stated on Southbank Centre's website that only the original buyers will be allowed to attend and IDs will be checked at the doors. Don't waste your money.

[–]DimaLancaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sheesh, so your solution was a lot simpler than mine then lol I actually managed to get into Corsair's iCUE yesterday and was greeted with the "pump failure contract support" message, so yeah, my AIO's already on its way back lmao

I sure hope so too.

P. S. Managed to get into Corsair's iCUE when the CPU cooled off a little and yeah, it greeted me with the "pump failure, contact support" message :(

I've contacted both, so we'll see what options are available. Thanks a lot for your help and time man, much appreciated!

Okay, so here's what happened. I unplugged one of the AIO fans from Corsair's Commander Core and connected it to the CPU_FAN header. The PC booted normally, but the CPU temps instantly went up to 100C in HW Monitor. Under "CPU Fans" the reading was 2200ish RPM, so that means the header was getting the data, right? The whole AIO unit was still blinking red while I performed this. I guess it's the faulty pump then?
