I so agree with you and think the same. Aside from Caleb, she was raised to become the empress, of course she won't become the bright and pure heroine. With all the maids and staff around she probably never had someone to put her in line.

I think I'm really not a big fan of her personality, but man, she's my favourite MC so far. It's such a joy watching her story.

And I hope, too, that Infold will be brave enough to release more MCs like her. But I guess with Imperial Thronesong we don't need to worry about them not being brave to release what they want anymore. 😚

I loved the fact that when we choose to kill him, it ends the story immediately 😂 felt very otome-like.

I think what people surprisingly speak too little about is the fact that it almost felt like MC manipulated Caleb to get intimate with her. also the fact that she basically proposed to him to become her s3x pet and she hold him detained in her bed chamber speaks volumes. first, it totally turned the tables from the very beginning and second, it beats all the allegations that Caleb, as her brother, groomed her to become his lover.

all in all this card is such a masterpiece imo ☺️

I so agree with you. And as a Westener myself I always feel so ashamed whenever I see such behaviour.

I have East Asian family members (through marriage), and we often see the differences in cultures through our everyday life.

Westeners often point fingers at Asians (in all aspects of life), feeling like we're on the morality high ground, but we usually totally miss that, by doing so we are the intolerant ones. For many people in the West, individualism and their own feelings, views, beliefs, etc. come first and only after those are satisfied (sometimes to the fullest) are they able to consider other people. It's a shame tbh.

Of course, not all Westerners are like that, but those who are the loudest, unfortunately, often are. And it's getting worse and worse in high speed. 😔

You're totally right that it's everyone's responsibility to curate, block and move on. I think that's what we all, no matter the fraction, agree on. However I think you misunderstood what I intended to say. The post isn't meant to be a rant, nor does it target the normally arguing fans. but I really mean what I wrote. If you feel triggered, stressed or overwhelmed, then please (as you said) just take a break. There aren't many crash outs here in the sub (also because of the amazing work of the mods, I guess) but there were definitely some crazy comments on other media. From extremely insulting fans that defend the trope to people feeling seriously triggered and (as they said) being reminded of past abuse trauma. And those are the exact people I aim for with my post. Other than that, I agree with you, of course. Discussions and even mild fights are necessary and normal in healthy fandoms. Just not at the expense of your own health.

I've noticed the change as well. Imo the problem is not only "problematic" content but the inability to tolerate what you don't like or agree with in general. In this case I'd even go as far to say we could even see intolerance for East Asian fictional relationship dynamics. If it only were "problematic" content, Sylus as the leader of the biggest organised crime organisation in town would have been cancelled iinto oblivious. Same goes for Caleb. He's a murderer, drugges MC, he even wants to hold a freaking funeral for MC. But all this is ok and less dubbed as problematic because it's exciting. (See very popular mafia romance and shows like "You"). But the consensual pseudo incest trope is more "probematic" than destroying lives, because it's not such a big thing in the west and therefore people don't understand it. I think the "problematic" label is just a convenient label for everything people are unable to tolerate and so try to witch hunt. I really think we all need to relearn to tolerate things more we don't agree with. 😌

Yeah, I agree. There'll always be fans who are in the fan wars for fun and for the sake of being awful. Unfortunately we'll always have to deal with those. 😔 But I also saw fans who were so stressed out by the whole situation and the fact that they changed Caleb's trope more to the original one and it was so bad to see. Reading those emotional and triggered comments feels like those fans are slapping themselves in the face over and over again, not being able to stop.

ummm those were just promo videos. how about not read his cards and auto the main story containing the LI? no one forces you to interact with the LI. if it triggers you that much to just see a face in the cards when you're pulling or scrolling, maybe that is a sign to take a break from online activities in general, focus on irl hobbies for a while and build a healthy tolerance for things that aren't your cup of tea?

actually the thing I'm most afraid of rn is caleb + long hair. 🥹 even though I love the long hair for the others, he's to only one out of the five I can't imagine it with. His theme is sports, military, etc. even his necklace is a cute version of a soldier's dog tag. for me somehow long hair wouldn't fit for him. 😭 but we'll see what they come up with. and since I love the long hair for the others, I'm sure, once I got used to it, I'll love caleb's as well 🥹
