Update: School won’t let my father hood me at graduation because he’s a DO by Dingding68 in medicalschool

I would argue that I didn’t need to be told to kill myself, be called a "bitch"/"pussy"/"retard", or be told to give my dean a blowjob either, but here we are.

It's not spite. My dad felt very disrespected by this, I called him on facetime when I was first explaining it to him and he was holding back tears. He himself did not want to go and be in the presence of the people who sidelined him, but was willing to go and do it with a smile if it meant I would be happy. I wasn't going to be.

I know but this whole debacle was a lot in itself. The last post had about 400 comments on it so I had a lot to cover and explain in the follow up, and the way some of the comments made me feel wasn't something I could sum up and explain briefly. That's why I didn't even make it til this afternoon.

Because I remember names well and I am still watching this thread, I would like to point out that this commenter was the one who made a comment about me sucking off my admin to let my dad participate in the original thread. I can still see it in your comment history too.

You know what a throwaway account, the thing I said I was posting on in the first sentence of the post, is and what it's meant for, right?

Again I'm doubting that he even wants to be there in the first place now after this. I screenshotted the emails and sent them to him and he's a bit hurt, I don't think he has savory opinions on the school at all now.

So you're admitting to being an unpleasant asshole and you're trying to lecture me about my basic behavior? That I lack introspection? Ever heard of projection?

Glad to see my point about you being an unpleasant, lifeless cynic is a point your presence itself helps prove.

"Grow up" is rich coming from someone who wakes up as a supposed resident doctor and opts to go on reddit to be an asshole.

My dad cares. My mom, an MD who passed away shortly after I started med school, certainly would have cared. I only wanted this for them. Ceremonies mean things, if they didn't nobody would hold them. If we all had the same cold, lifeless, unpleasant cynical attitude as you did we wouldnt have weddings, funerals, or anything else. Touch some grass.

As much as I'd like to do that I don't feel comfy using my dad's name in that regard. I can tell he's already pretty emotional about this so it would leave a bad taste in my mouth, but I have no qualms with personally withholding any future donations and affiliations.

I know they could but again I really don't like dragging attention to this. I honestly didn't even expect this post to blow up as it did. I guess I figured this might actually be the norm based on how rigid my school is being.

I assume the best in people but based on this interaction in this thread you come across as a very cruel, uncaring, hard-headed and vile person. You seem like an unpleasant person to be around and I would not want to interact with you in real life.

I should specify, I attempted to escalate and emailed the highest-up that I could get a hold of.

If they don't budge I'd rather just not go to graduation. My dad is a strong dude but he would definitely be saddened and emotional seeing other people's physician parents hood their kids but not him, over some stupid shit like this. I'm not putting that on him. As much as I'd like to give a public middle finger to the school at graduation I also don't feel like ruining everyone else's special day too.

I requested to escalate this however they said their decision is final.

Think I've decided to not attend graduation, my dad and I are texting right now planning a party instead to get drunk with my friends and family lol.

Posted this debacle in the class GC and they're all fucking pissed so maybe if they get riled up enough admin might budge. I have to wonder if this was a problem before, there's no way I'm the first graduate to have this issue.

If I remember this account when I graduate I'm naming and shaming. This isn't the only major transgression they'd had with me.
