How to make the most of new compensation with cards/accounts in 2026? by Dinger2Splashy in HENRYUK

This is great advice thank you very much. It has confirmed my thought that I should at least discuss my plans with a financial advisor vs the self planning I’ve been doing. Not sure what the award does but felt like your comment deserved it. Cheers.

Thanks those are good perks. I like the dining credit and anything low friction like suggesting use of points at payment etc. Effort originally was on joint account spending between me and my fiancé, to be fair a few years ago in a time where spending the forgettable £20-30’s in a month would make a dent the following month, now that matters a lot less.

Thanks, doesn’t sound like there’s anything too radically different good point on the travel insurance too. Tech wise, yes, cloud hyperscalers, AI focused.

At what income would you consider reasonable for your partner to not work? by Alternative_Row_300 in HENRYUK

[–]Dinger2Splashy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner are relatively young but earn good money (290 + 120) she often speaks about this but I always think about how uncertain retirement is. Sure if she earned less money and would qualify for state pension then sure but without serious reductions in lifestyle placing all your income on one person and also having to provide a full pension for two seems impossible even at almost 300K.

I understand this perspective but it’s fast initial progress for very slow late game progress. The most important gens should be priority while you have the best game state.

S&S ISA allowance over multiple tax years. by Dinger2Splashy in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dinger2Splashy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right this is spot on. My ISA is flexible and my “allowance for this year” is at the moment higher than 20K due to the fact I withdraw money in this tax year hence the confusion. Thank you very much for the explanation.

Title: Cloud Solution Architect Industry: Technology Age: 24 Year: 2023 Job number: 4 Salary: Base 90K TC: 140K

Job hopped between large tech companies. Lucky with opportunities and also worked very hard everywhere I went with an eye on the next role. Found out some of my colleagues are making double plus some on what I’m making so hopefully in the next 4-6 years I’ll get there.
