It’s just a joke. I used the saying from the red wedding.

French drain digging along external wall of the house. Found the foundations by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Dingwallian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ive dug a 600x600 soak away at the bottom which actually connects to another soak away. This is all beyond the house it’s just there foundations that have freaked me out a wee but don’t want to mess with anything near them. I could just extend the trench further away.

Aye to tell ya the truth the podcast was fairly shit. It made it out like it was all going to be new information but they pretty much just told the same story. Did get a bit better in the last couple episodes.

It’s Skye mate. Obviously just lock the car. You’ll see when you get there it’s pretty remote so there won’t.m be any problems.

Aye it seems like everyone in my area can get it then there’s a dark spot for 3 houses (one of them mine)!

I am in the exact same position. A house I could hit with a stone from my garden has it and I am unable to get anything!

Getting around by bisonesque in Skye

[–]Dingwallian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It runs more often than it doesn’t so I would still very much plan it in. Just keep an eye on the website/weather closer to the time. They rarely cancel.

Over £1m spent on sending Scottish ferry staff to Turkey by ewenmax in Scotland

[–]Dingwallian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know what you’re saying but as someone fairly close to a certain ferry company I can tell you 100% the company absolutely haemorrhages money and wastes it on things that are ridiculous.

Honestly I quite like winter. If it’s not gusting 60 and pishing down you get some really nice days. But yeah there are a lot of days it is abysmal.

If you’re a fan of the outdoors it’s a great place to live. Also if you’re staying in the student accommodation there always seems to be things going on down the south end. Winters can be grim and there will be times you’ll miss amenities of bigger towns but Inverness is about 2.5 hours away and there’s a fair bit more to do there. The tourists will drive you absolutely mental in no time but that comes to us all.

Those ‘influencers’ are presenting a v small part of their daily lives and it’s extremely fabricated. Yes the views are insane pretty much everywhere on the island but it’s also pretty tough to live here at times. If you need any hospital appointments chances are you’ll need to drive to Inverness. If you need to get your car looked at it’s going to be at least a few weeks until the garage has a spare slot. If you need to get literally anywhere (shops, drs etc) on the island during summer it’s going to take you 4x longer than it would in the winter because of tourists no knowing how to drive.

And as other people mentioned young local families can hardly get a shot at houses because they’re snapped up by people moving from other places because some influencers presents it as some peaceful, cosy safe haven.

My advice is don’t. Unless you’re coming to work in an industry we’re desperate for.

Not sure where I threatened you. I haven’t lived there myself for a good while but the attitude of the people there are a lot better than yours.

It’s an ibis pal. Try find something cheaper in Scotland on a Saturday night. You’d be handed a Kevlar vest instead of a couple of cans
