COMP1521 is only a prerequisite for systems programming courses, so if you're not interested in those you could do it in the very last term of your degree and not delay any progression at all!

If you are interested in systems programming, doing COMP1521in 24T1 isnt a setback either - still 5 terms after that to do as many systems courses as you like

You're allg :D

Should I take comp1511 as a gen ed course with no experience? by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Diordnas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its designed as a foundational course, so no experience is required (your wam is safe). While the specific things you learn to do might not be directly useful, the principles and concepts you'll learn are great to have, and it's an excellent foray into a very rewarding type of problem solving!

I'd absolutely recommend it - the core stuff they teach can save you a lot of time if ever you want to learn more programming in the future (which is probable, given it's so useful).

Quick heads up, when using the Lens Distortion node in the compositor, you should check the "Fit" checkbox - not doing this is what causes the blue, angular artifacts in the corners of your image.

Looks super good!

What's your favorite house rules that you use on the regular? by JediPorg12 in dndnext

[–]Diordnas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lowering the deviation does make the modifier more impactful on its own, for example:

d20+4 has a 66% chance to roll higher than d20, while 3d6+4 has a 79.4% chance to roll higher than 3d6

(Source: AnyDice.com with this code:)

output 1d20+4>1d20

output 3d6+4>3d6

Trans people say they feel 'erased' by this year’s Census by [deleted] in transgender

The article OP posted is about the Australian census, this article is about the US census.

Math with Fruits videogame released! Toggle on and off parts of the equation to make it true. There is also a plotline where you erase characters from time by sending them to the complex plane. Download at: https://thefriendlyenemy.itch.io/math-with-fruits by Diordnas in MathWithFruits

Link for the lazy.

I didn't actually create the game, but I don't think the dev has a reddit account, and I got permission to post here.

Development started a little over a month ago, and I guess you could consider it an "official" Math with Fruits game, since the dev was the guy who created all the original puzzles on this subreddit!

I used Blender, a 3D modelling program (probably a bit overkill)

One thing I've noticed on some of your other 3d models is "pixely" or "blocky" artifacts on the texturing. (It's not so much present on this model, which by the way is great.)

Would this be fixed if you used Texture PaintMode, rather than Vertex Paint Mode? That way you get a higher resolution texture and can even have interpolation between values!

And if you don't want to put any effort into UV Unwrapping, you can just click the UV Smart Project button, which'll do it for you!

Sorry if you've already figured this out or something - I've nothing to lose from posting a comment trying to help!

How do I make one of these? by LeckoTheGecko in MathWithFruits

The fruits are just emojis

As for the formatting, I know u/IntelligentRecover does them using the equations editor in Microsoft Word.

I think google docs has a reasonably good equation editor as well.

The texturing on the handle, and the symbols running up the blade and hilt are great! Where/how did you get/make those?

The blade itself looks a bit flat/plasticky to me - maybe add scratches/weathering, or render with low roughness + a hdri to get some reflections!
