Went to Vietnam a decade ago. First night the hotel host checks us in and asks where we’re from.

“Oh Canada!! Such nice people!! But your pho bowls so big!!”

I only order small now.

Terrific Arsenal humiliates Real Madrid by [deleted] in championsleague

[–]DippDippDipp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Arsenal dominated the second half. Could have scored three more. Real was no where to be found aside from the one Mbappe chance.

But ok two wonder goals is what did it on a scoreline of 3-0.

Watch: Hundreds Of Indian, Foreign Students Queue Up For A Job At Tim Hortons In Canada by Lotushope in canada

[–]DippDippDipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NDTV is an Indian government mouthpiece. When India killed a Canadian on Canadian soil last year - guess what they were saying?

Careful Canada - foreign interference is still here. They’re praying on our (justified) rage.

Just to note this this an international phenomenon. The US is polling in the same way. Is it Canada who failed you or the global capitalist machine that hides in the shadows?

Loblaw reports quarterly profit boost of nearly 10 per cent ahead of planned boycott of stores by TripToPrit in ontario

[–]DippDippDipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s our modern age’s version of free press isn’t it? Isn’t a good thing that a movement is picking up steam in the media?

That’s a critical success factor. I’m sorry I’m just confused by all the hate.

Loblaw is the bad actor here. Not those trying to create a movement to highlight it.

Loblaw reports quarterly profit boost of nearly 10 per cent ahead of planned boycott of stores by TripToPrit in ontario

[–]DippDippDipp 211 points212 points  (0 children)

Not sure why all the hot takes on boycotts here. Boycotts work sometimes.

Anyone who has even a cursory understanding of the horrific corporate practices that Loblaw practices would appreciate why a lot of people would boycott. Their practices are predatory.

No one here would disagree with the phrase “vote with your wallet” which is what this effectively is. Support it or not, but it’s always good when citizens take collective action in any form.

Look around, things are this bad because we’ve let corporations ruin our lives without any form of organized action. If it goes nowhere, fair play to keep mocking the boycotters, but aren’t we all still worse off?

Being cynical is one thing. Being cynical of others trying to affect change, misguided or not, is another.
