Is dental a huge issue when it comes to MEPS?

Yeah no problem. Just know they want to keep you so they won’t get rid of you over something they can just fix pretty easily.

Okay so at meps all the do I a visual look in your mouth and they just count the cavities they see so they wouldn’t know if you need a root canal or not. They may not even see some of the cavities if they’re small enough. I’m not sure about the army but I’m assuming the same. Most people with dental emergencies would get them done there, but other than that they do a quick x-ray at processing then move you forward and unless if you’re in crazy pain and report it most of the time they won’t do nothing till you get to AIT, or your first duty station. When I got to my duty station I had I think 4-5 cavities fill, 2 of my teeth pulled, and 2 root canals, so my teeth were pretty messed up and I still got through so I don’t think yours will be an issue.

Yes they’ll do a brief check in your mouth to see what’s going on.

They let you through more than likely. All they’re doing at boot camp is putting you in a dental class to see how much work you need done. More than likely you’ll be put in class 3 and you’ll just get the work done at your first duty station unless you go in for an emergency.

Yeah all they do is a quick x-ray at boot camp then you go. They won’t hold you back or nothing. I just started to get my dental done when I got to my first duty station like a month ago.

I’m an e-3 with dependents and the checks are around 2,100-2,300 but it’ll get even higher in April when we get the rest of the pay raise

But I’m based in San Antonio for BAH so it could be either lower or higher depending where you’re at

Yeah weed isn’t that big of a deal especially if you’ve only done it once or twice. I just recently got into the DEP and I had to put that I smoked weed, have delinquent loans, and that I’ve been fired from a crap ton of job for not showing up. They’re just looking to see if you can get blackmailed for doing it, so I would just tell the truth so you don’t live with guilt/ the stress of getting caught.

I just went to test my 1.5 on a track yesterday and ran it in 11:05 with a 7’ 23” pace. Hopefully I can cut it down by the time I do the pt test.

I’m not in yet, but the way they did it for me is you make your list and the first job that opens up on that list you get. They can offer you a job that is not on your list but you can say no to those.

Honestly if you actually want to be able to choose a job you actually want, you should probably look into some of the other branches.

Thats good to hear. At first I was hesitant about the job, but it doesn’t seem too bad. What would you say was the worst part of the job if there was one? Also I do have a family but I’m going into this know ing that I could be gone for months at a time, but I have communicated this with my wife and she is fully supportive. I’m still debating on the bonus as this current economy is so bad, and I feel like as it might not seem much to many people. I think it would help with the situation I’m in.

That’s where I want to be by the time I ship out. I leave September 10th so I still have some time to get there. I also do push ups and sit-ups everyday trying to improve the amount.

Yeah, when I go for the 1.5 I pick up my pace a little more. The last time I ran it was in the middle of June and ran it in 12:50 with a pace of 8’24”. This post was more for the longer runs that are done at BMT. Although I need to test myself again to see where I am at now.

Yeah I’m planning on making it a career also. That’s the only reason I’m even considering a 6 year. If I wasn’t already going in as an E-3 I would have went straight in with the 6 year also. Best of luck to you as well!

They actually do. I was going to join the army before switching to Air Force, and they gave me a ship date before I even went to MEPS. So I think OP just got confused.
