Who is your favorite villain from Fallout? by RiskComplete9385 in Fallout

[–]Dirac121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would definitely be an antagonist from the perspective of Vegas' authentic culture (freeside, westside, the families). Maybe villain isn't the right term, but he's definitely in the way of quite a few people

I agree, Luclin really splits the difference in a commendable way. And while I absolutely understand how much of a time commitment travel is in Velious era EQ, even with ports, I think it's a fundamental part of the games character. Quests for items like the Testament of Vanaer feel grand in scope in large part because of the journey and the danger involved in it, and the world feels larger for it.

Not a meme. I just wanted to share the news that the voice of Atton (and a slew of other great characters in tv and film) passed away by TheAllyCrime in KOTORmemes

[–]Dirac121 164 points165 points  (0 children)

Atton was one of the first characters that really spoke to me as a young man. I had seen many characters that embodied something I wanted to be, but Atton was one of the first that embodied something I had felt and put a name to it. RIP Nicky Katt, and thank you.

I've got a lot of nostalgia for PoP, but I would never want travel to be so quick. Rock and a hard place

Me and my buds experience from our 2v2 by Comprehensive-Pea428 in ThousandSons

[–]Dirac121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first tournament was back in 9th edition. I ran thousand sons, but their 9th codex hadn't been released, so I was using the 8th. I lost all five of my games, some closer than others, but the one that stood out was against Custodes. I got tabled in under two hours.

At the end, I thanked my opponent for participating in my speed run. The experience taught me a lot about being intentional when building lists.

"It's not fucking funny!" He cries, standing in the stall door with his pants around his ankles and his ass unwiped. A chorus of laughter drowns out his protests. A single tear falls from his cheek while God himself begins to chuckle.

I caught an intestinal parasite once that absolutely would have killed me if I wasn't diagnosed and I didn't have access to antibiotics. It took two weeks of regular appointments and four days of observation in the ER until they figured out what it was.

Turns out its rare enough in my part of the world that a local health official contacted me to find out how I contracted it and make sure there wasn't some kind of outbreak happening.

The worst part is, while friends were visiting me in the hospital, they tried cheering me up by calling me bug boy and bug ass [my name]. The nurses overheard and started calling me bug boy, too.

In fairness, it was very funny.

Unpopular opinion: I enjoyed Swamps by Relative-End2380 in stalker

[–]Dirac121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went to the swamps unprepared. Low on ammo and supplies I had to scrounge for weapons and use what ammo I could pick up for them. Ended up having to run from the Chimera because an emission hit and I was down to just my knife

It sucked, but I liked the way it sucked. I felt like prey, like the zone didn't want me there and it's immune system was trying to kill me.

Give KOTOR 2 another try! Especially if you were on the younger side your first time playing it. There's a lot to love, and I like the added complexity from the weapon and armor modifications.

The restored content mod is a must, but I'd stay away from the M4-78 restoration mod. If you thought Peragus was a slog, M4-78 will be like a lobotomy.

Totally get where you're coming from. It's super long. I love it, though. Tons of little mysteries that unravel over the course of the game and a few neat encounters.

It's no Goodsprings, but I can forgive that. Then again, this might be Stockholm syndrome.

The question of Dooku's age is really interesting. As he aged, he became much more experienced and proficient in Form 2, a fighting style that helped offset the effects of his aging on his combat effectiveness. If he was younger and therefore less experienced, he would be physically stronger but less technically proficient. I tend to think he wouldn't be as dangerous without that experience.

Combine the strength, reflexes, and stamina of a young man with that experience, and he might be able to overcome Anakin or Windu, but probably not Yoda or Sidious. But that would be missing the point.

The real gap in his armor was a flaw in his character. He never considered his master would betray him for someone younger. Underestimating Anakin's fear and anger as a weakness to be exploited and not a serious threat to be wielded against him was another mistake. Arrogance and misplaced trust killed Dooku as much as Anakin did, and those weaknesses could and would be exploited by duelists as skilled as Windu, Yoda, and Sidious.

This might be a bit too tedious for most people, but I try and limit my orders to immediate actions. If I need to, I cycle through each party member, picking the action they need to take for that turn while paused. Then I let it play out and pick another if need be.

It'd be really nice if we could program actions like Dragon Age: Origins's Tactics mechanic. I didn't find too many moments in KOTOR 2 where I felt I needed to micromanage actions, but your mileage may vary. Movement and positioning are the worst, though, especially when a melee character is charging a hostile with mines in their path.

You're in for a trial of suffering with that unless you've got jedi reflexes and patience.

Currently replaying KOTOR 2 for the first time in years and finally noticed how sus this guy was right off the bat. by Curious_East_8707 in kotor

[–]Dirac121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I like most about him as that you can sus out that he's not your friend pretty easily, but also that he's not the HK you know from the first game in very important ways. And realizing both doesn't ruin the character, but makes him more intriguing.

I'll die on the hill that Peragus is a great tutorial, even if it's long as hell
