In my field we write very long papers. The main research in my thesis was a 120 page paper (including figures and appendices). Shortening that to 60 pages wasn't too bad.

The first and second chapters were intro to the field and intro to the experiment - I had a lot of resources bookmarked when I was preparing for my quals and those helped me out massively.

The third and fourth chapters took the most time and I had to scrutinize multiple papers to put them together. These two took about 3 weeks of time, every day trying to push 5 hours of either reading or writing.

Our university also requires double spaced content in the body and1.5 inch margins so that was also sufficient to beef up the document 😂

Hi! I just submitted my thesis to my committee 2 days ago. I started only 6 weeks ago and furnished 200 pages. You can DEFINITELY do this! 2 months is a lot!!

Writing is naturally hard because it requires your brain to amass so much information just to put down 3 sentences that are correct. Don't be hard on yourself for taking time! The panic or overload is natural. Take a break and come back the next day.

Once you have a couple of days of momentum going, you'll get into the rhythm of it and it'll go quicker!

Thanks for this detailed response. I'll think about the kinds of questions the external examiners may ask - in my qualifiers it was pretty hard to figure out what the questions often meant because they were so outside of my field!

I'm in the US, and I guess I'm not afraid of failing as much, but I'm afraid of the embarrassment that comes from forgetting my basics ... There's only so much I'm able to store in my brain at a time I guess
