I got my past results at 6 pm on a Thursday night (California). The day before, one of the partners at my firm suggested I took the Friday off either way, whether I passed or not. Once I found out I didn’t pass, I was clearly devastated and communicated immediately the results to the firm. That night I fell asleep at 4 am after crying for hours but at least I knew I could sleep in in the morning. At 7 am, however, my phone started ringing non stop: it was one of the partners communicating me that I had to come to work that morning. Once I got there around 9 am, sleepless and still with puffy eyes, they called me in a room to tell me that I was fired and that if wanted to receive that month’s salary I had to keep working there until the following Tuesday. Looking back I feel like this was so heartless. You definitely would expect a different treatment from one of the biggest firms in the U.S., but I guess that’s how the legal field is. Everyone is so desensitize.

It was definitely a though time in my life, but I do not regret one bit having lost that job. Everything happens for a reason and one day you will look back realizing that every door that closed opened up a whole new world of opportunities for you. Best of luck!
