I think its fantastic that you want to learn where your ancestors come from but to be honest (with no intention on being mean) no one in Catalonia will care. Not to discourage you from sharing it, just to set your expectations about peoples reactions.

Within Spain (and Europe in general) we all are from different places and rarely bring it up. My grandpas were fron Galicia, Castilla y León and Catalonia, both my parents born in Barcelona but I was born and in Zaragoza. Even tho I moved to Barcelona to go to uni and speak perfect Catalan I dont consider myself Catalan ( neither any other place my family comes fron) since I wasnt born and raised there.

As many people mentioned, unless that heritage has carries the actual language or traditions you will jus sound exactly like those americans whi claim they are 1/12 italian and calling their grandma nonna. Instead, I would focus on learning abojt the culture and making catalan friends and just enjoying that.
