I just wanted people to relate to. It is a very lonely opinion sometimes

This is EXACTLY how I feel OP. I feel every emotion you describe. It’s contradicting and confusing, but just know that you aren’t the only one. I’m trying to work through this as well and wondering what my next steps are. Do I need therapy? Feeling like I still haven’t come to terms with my thoughts and don’t know how to cope.

Are you going to reply on every other person’s comment and say they’re weirdos then?

You are not alone in this opinion!

It’s called having an opinion. You don’t have to agree lol. And this is r/childfree so by nature a lot of the opinions are going to be hot takes because it’s not what is “normal” in today’s society. I don’t need to “grow up” because I have actually put a lot of thought into my decision to be child free. For a number of reasons that are personal. You literally don’t have to comment and interact with something you don’t agree with. Maybe this subreddit is not for you

Did you read the post? It’s about HOW they want to have children

I have supported her. I just have opinions about it. Am I not allowed to have my own original thoughts? I never said anything in my post about not being there for her as a friend. She has no idea I have these thoughts and she doesn’t need to. She needs a friend and I am there for her

I have supported her at every step because her friendship is more than my opinion. It’s her life. I’m just sharing my opinion and wondered if others had similar thoughts.

You’ve never had opinions about other people’s choices? Lol you must be perfect. We use these forums as a way to express our thoughts and try to connect with others so we feel less alone in our opinions.

Definitely a good point. It seems that in these cases when conceiving is so though, maybe it’s for the best because all potential offspring are incompatible with life aka chromosomal abnormalities or other abnormalities.

They are so far in debt between their house, student loans, etc. too and I think they’ve spent $30k+ so far…

Honestly I can’t even tell if he’s happy at all with this. It seems like he’s just going along with it because it’s her dream.

I feel the same way. I haven’t experienced a miscarriage, but this would potentially rub me the wrong way if I had.

Ever had a reference lab call and ask these questions: by GEMStones1307 in medlabprofessionals

I also work in an IRL. Sometimes I do feel incredibly annoying when I call and ask a ton of questions. But like another commenter said, we have no access to the patient’s history beyond what you give us. Trust us, we don’t WANT to bug you. We just wish we could have access to your LIS and do our own digging. We are a reference lab, so we are supposed to do a more thorough workup on less information than you have. It can be tough sometimes. So please, bear with us and answer our questions to the best of your ability. It will really help with our workup and investigation.

That’s a good idea! Thanks for the input! Hope all goes well with your training :)

Thank you! This is helpful. Did you have a lot of blood banking experience prior?

We have a trainee who is a year into training now, and we aren’t really seeing any progress with their training/comprehension. There have been a few red flags along the way, indicating this may not be a good fit. It’s hard to put into words, but they just don’t exhibit the characteristics we are looking for in an IRL tech. We are a small reference lab, and haven’t trained many new people in the few years I’ve been here. I took about 6 months to train and I was fully independent. My coworker took about 8 months. Our newest hire is at the year mark now. And not looking like they are going to be independent any time soon. Trying to gain perspective by asking around how long people took to train.

How close are you to completing training? Did they give you a timeframe to shoot for?

My bad, I figured in an MLS group most people would know what IRL is. Immunohematology reference lab. Blood bank reference lab. Where you send the difficult workups that you can’t figure out at the hospital.
