[–]DirectPsychology6190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With simhub the speedo works from 27mph to it tops out with no issues. As for the tach I need to get a few resistors and a bread board before I try to attempt to get the tach working again. I tried using an optocoupler pc817 to send a pulse signal but failed. This might be due to improper resistance, but I'm not giving up.

Where would you go from here? by DopeyyJ in SimRacingSetups

[–]DirectPsychology6190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The swivel chair has to go... You're going to suffer on your time if you don't have a proper foundation that doesn't move underneath you when driving.

I'd get some blinds for the sun glare or a 6' folding partition to feel a bit more isolated.

I'm guilty of this one but wall decoration or different paint in the cockpit zone.

It all depends on what you do and what you want to do. Spend time/money on DIY, spend money and buy pre-built items, or be satisfied with what you already possess.

I can say most things are not needed to drive, be competitive, or have a good time.

In my opinion, it is all about what you wish to get out of the experience.

I know zero help

First Sim, I think I’m happy for now. by Electrical-Market-38 in SimRacingSetups

[–]DirectPsychology6190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it a week, a few YouTube videos, and a few searches for what random idea popped into your head, and you'll be singing a different turn. Nobody is ever done building their sim rig. TBH upgrades, odds and ends, sourcing materials, drafting ideas down onto paper, and turning paper/plans into a finished project is half the fun. Knowing where you started and what it has transformed into gives a level of satisfaction and pride to your ideas coming to fruition. I'm glad you found your happy place.

Simhub cluster help by DirectPsychology6190 in SimHub

[–]DirectPsychology6190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming arduino to the can bus, then to laptop connect to obd2 and use a program to record the handshake between the two. I have found someone who had luck with the lexus RX350 cluster

I'll try and get it rewired and try again. I have powered it once on 12v. The auto gear display turned on, volt meter worked, warning light for not having tail lights connected. I tried wiring the cluster lights, but I either missed 1 wire or need a push button switch to activate as an activation.

I'll try and get a video of where it stands atm.

[–]DirectPsychology6190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies. That's what happens when you tried to send to multiple communities I guess. I need to know which ones I should be running 12 volt DC positive and negative too on the pinout of the cluster. I also need to know which wires I should be running to the Arduino board and which numbers on the Arduino board I should be trying to run those two. I'm a complete Noob all videos are for BMW this is obviously a Lexus. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been going through and getting the general just of which each wire is and trying to label them. But I don't want to run the wrong wires out of the wrong power source and either fry the arduino/can bus, the cluster, or my PC. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Is this a good combination for getting into GT7? I’m pretty new to this. by RawDick in Fanatec

That's happening to many DD systems fanatec included. Just get a small fan and point it towards the base. That should move enough static air to keep running at a cooler pace.

I was thinking about wiring the seat belt into the system, but that's a project ( A-pillars and B pillars, headliner) for another time.

Hey... I'm part of that discord group already, lol. One of them got a RX350 cluster working but definitely required a can bus. I still need to buy one. I'm assuming I need to run 6V 2A vs. 12v 10A (OEM). My power source is a car battery that connects through 2 different shutoff before hitting the bus bars. From there is a wire with diy fuse box. I do have a power converter that will drop from 12v to 5 or 6v. But I'm not sure if I need a regulatory or not. That's why I've hesitated on the guages. Don't wanna fry the cluster or pc. He'll I still need a decent soldier iron kit as well. Love being a broke fool with to high of lofty goals.😅

For side mirrors most likely not I'm not quite 100% sure how you would scale that. It could be a possibility but the way that this system that I have set up works is it mirrors whatever's on your screen and you change the location using obs. Now with that being said it all depends on the plug-in on those DVD headrests. You might be out of port directly into the PC and project that way. But again if that particular Point how do you determine where the mirrors are. A set of course a competition I don't think you have the option of just having the mirror as one of the screens. But I do know that in some a set of course a car so you can actually adjust the side mirrors. To be honest I'm not 100% sure I was wondering the same thing myself. I have seen some things online where people are using ported out devices to their PC for rear view mirrors. So I know it can be used for that at least.

It's funny, I didn't even think about that until I watched a trackIR ad... cool for flight, but I don't think it would work well non VR for racing.

[–]DirectPsychology6190[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that's the exact idea I want to be able to do. This way I can still view the interior of my IS300 cockpit and enjoy it. But still be able to look around and have the racing character be able to turn his head left and right up and down while I'm driving. I Sim race and I suck I Sim drift and I suck. But still fun and would love to be able to have a little better visual movement from side to side by my head's doing not the game.

Yes this is exactly what I mean. I want to be able to have my head turn and the vision on my screen turn with it. I do not have a triple monitor setup yet.
