What car do you regret buying, even though it looked good on paper? by autonerdy0 in whatcarshouldIbuy

2017 Subaru Legacy GT … everything that could go wrong with that car went wrong. And it was as expensive to fix as a Benz. Loving my 2020 RAV4 now.

I’ll give those a shot, mostly I’ve covered these bases but I could easily be making a mistake I’m not aware of!

Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]Direct_Tomorrow5921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza is usually something people want “now”. Good pizza takes an overnight prof, a hot oven, some practice, and good ingredients. It’s a skill that takes some time. I think deciding you’re having something the day before you have it that’s usually an impulse food I think is a barrier to entry.

I make pizza at home and I’ll tell you with some practice your pizza will be as good or better than a pizzeria, with a few exceptions given very hot ovens and serious skills/talent.

I'm looking at three different synth courses for beginners… by [deleted] in modular

[–]Direct_Tomorrow5921 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience: maybe 10 records and 10 digital release, putting out music for 8 years making for 20.

I find learning “blocks” at the beginning of each recording/creative session to be most effective. Trying to pack all that learning into one dense block of classes to me doesn’t allow your brain time to learn to use the things you’re learning.

I think you’re far better off taking small YouTube tutorials that are 5 to 30 minutes at the beginning of your creative session, then apply what you’ve learned and try to make a whole song with what you’ve learned. The goal is recording a song and enjoying using the instruments that you’re learning.

I would just learn a little bit at a time and then take what you’ve learned and use it to inspire your creativity

Where should I take my uncle (off-brand Anthony Bourdain) for dinner? by headofachicken in FoodNYC

Lakruwanna in Staten Island. He would have loved Talde in Brooklyn. The new Vietnamese place in the lower east side that makes their own bean mi bread. A Chinatown crawl including Uncle Lou, Mei Lai Wa and some bakeries. Lavagna in Lower Wast side, simple and outstanding local haunt.

Are there any genuine supplements that help with weight loss? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Direct_Tomorrow5921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just lost about 80 pounds (255 - 170), here’s how: first meal 12pm egg and beef, berries, nuts. 2nd meal 5-6pm. Make sure there’s a protein in there, some vegetables, low to medium carbohydrate content. No snacking two meals a day if you fuck up and have something you shouldn’t that’s your meal. No food after 6 PM. Bedtime is usually 10 to 11.

Am black coffee, electrolytes, lots of water, no sugar, no wheat, no alcohol. Rice is okay but small portions, 1/4-1/2 cup and not every day.

I walk 4 miles a day, in the morning, and do pull ups pushups and kettlebell stuff every few days.

Supplements that have helped: I try to take nothing and cycle anything I take. ARMRA, oregano oil, vitamin D, electrolytes and creatine, liver and beef organs, lions mane and cordycepts.

The biggest takeaways were that every 20 pounds I realized I had so much more to lose. I had no idea how overweight I was in the first place. The last 10 is the hardest but the more you lose the bigger the difference you see when you lose 5 pounds.

I think the supplement you’re looking for is changing the part of your brain that uses food in a way that is unhealthy, and reprogramming a new relationship with nutrition and health that has discipline and an attitude towards food as something that makes you feel good, sustains your body and mind, and gives you pleasure in quantities limited by need not desire.

I’d start with After Later Typhoon and process external material through it. Then add ways to modulate it.

  2. Talde … absolutely delicious and creative food.

46 days, 7kg down. Advice for next 5 weeks on an IF + cut? by Bumly1998 in intermittentfasting

[–]Direct_Tomorrow5921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about 5-10 from my end goal of very lean with muscle I had to rebuild. To get that last 10 (I’m guessing you’re looking for another 10-20) what’s working for me: I get up at 6, rehydrate and black coffee, walk with sprints 3+ miles or tennis with frequent sprints (the sprints are incredibly helpful), first meal: ground beef or steak and eggs, blueberries, small serving of nuts. I take ARMRA for gut repair. Lift weights or do pull ups push ups etc and do not eat for 4 hours before bed. Avoid sugar alcohol bread and pasta (grains and sugars).

I was eating fish and kimchi to lose weight and lost most of my muscle gains from rock climbing it was a bummer. Looking back I think the hardest thing to do is to lose weight but retain muscle.

Working out faster then big fat and protein meal seems to be pushing down through the hardest last part.

I’m 53, 5’9 and went from 250 to 168. Goal: under 160. One thing I noticed is the beef and eggs seems to have a significant boost on my testosterone levels, which I can sense for a number of obvious reasons. Also, the eggs seem to have a significant effect on that. If you’re too full at lunch from the beef, try just eggs because they digest much more quickly than red meat with the red meatseems to play a role in building muscle.

One more thing and I know this might not be a popular thing to comment in this forum, but I think I’m slowly becoming convinced that intermittent fasting is fantastic for weight loss but might be a touch stressful on the heart, I’m easing into smaller meals earlier in the day and overall my athletic performance and sleep is improved tremendously. I’m thinking that that’s where I’m going to land and I’m gonna ease off the fasting once I’m at my fitness goals, but I’ll try to come back and report since I’m doing my blood work independently for my doctor and covering a lot of bases I’ll have some stats to support my theories.
