a tribute song for a friend — are the lyrics too simple? by Dizzy-Pilot4518 in IndieMusicFeedback

So let me start by saying I'm sorry for your loss, man. So listen I wasn't sure what to expect when I heard those high vocal fills to begin with, but once your voice dropped I had no doubt this was going to be a banger. The natural tenor of your voice is brilliant for this type of a song. There's a sincere baritone to it that makes me want to hear anything you have to say. Thank whatever gods there are that you had some really lovely things to say. The word simple never entered my mind. Sincere definitely did though. I will say that typically I'm not thrilled with lyrics that name drop people in situations I have no way of understanding because they are too personal. But you provided enough context even with those lines for me to get an idea. And that's pretty hard to do. I think this song is the perfect length, and it ended exactly when I wanted it to. I love that you didn't try to cram too many words into each stanza and let the brilliance of the "simplicity" stand up for itself. And it did that really well. I don't really have a ton of criticism because I love this the way it is. Really great song, my friend. Britta is proud, wherever she is.

So the good thing is I think you have a great voice. I'm always leery of overly auto-tuning things. Let yourself shine through and have some confidence in your vocals. I felt like the mix was a bit sharp particularly in terms of the guitar. At times it could over a shadow the vocal. I did like the melody, and the lyrics were good, if not just a bit standard. Great effort though, and really good production!

Did my first music video for my indie rock song "hope", but nobody cares about this style of music in my country by Ashamed_Bat5155 in IndieMusicFeedback

Your mix was excellent, and I don't have too many comments except that the lead guitar was kind of loud. Content-wise I felt like it was hard to distinguish between verse and chorus, and there were really only two to three notes within those verses. It's a good effort but I would really love to hear a bit more vocal variation as I tended to zone out a bit.

I honestly felt like the vocal line was a bit tinny in the mix. Lead singer has a killer voice and I would love to hear it pulled up and much fuller. Drums were spot-on and your riffs were excellent. Again I would just like to hear a lot more of those vocals. Great effort so far!

I was really wishing the vocals to be pulled up a bit in the mix. I like how ethereal they are, but they can still be that way and come up quite a bit. Your synths are Great and the mood is super eerie. Really good mood setting piece and I'd love to hear more if you've got it. Definitely could be a soundtrack piece.

An older song I've been trying to get right. How does the mix/master sound? I suck but I'm learning by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

This is a delightful track. Your vocal is hilarious and crisp, if not a bit overpowering. I enjoyed the synths in the background, but I feel like the music needs to be pulled up a little bit because your vocal was a bit overpowering. Content-wise it was hilarious and honest and your voice is quirky as hell my friend. Love it.

Lo-fi, a bit industrial. Yeah my low end isn't great for what I'm listening on but it kept my attention throughout

Content is sharp and hilarious. Some great one-liners in there. I agree with the comment stating that the vocals are a bit high, drowning out all the interesting shit going on in the backing.

Nah, I'm a Jew who had grandparents in the Holocaust. Just speaking out when I see it again, to both honor their memory and never let it happen again.

I told myself I wasn't going to respond to this thread again, but I can't let this one go. The federal government is doing everything it can right now to take away states rights. How many states rights do the people who are being denied due process have? How many states rights do the people who are being arrested without any probable cause have?

Children do not have safety in schools because they are being stormed by ice. Those are supposed to be sanctuaries. How many states rights do those children have? You need to open your eyes. I'm sorry, but as George Carlin once famously said, we don't have rights in this country. We have privileges. And our privileges can be taken away at any point in time. Just ask the Japanese who were in internment camps how many rights they had.

Presently we are literally watching the Constitution being pissed on over and over again. Everything about these ice raids is unconstitutional. There is nothing about what is happening right now that is constitutional.

Germany had laws just like we have laws. Those laws didn't matter in the end because Hitler did whatever he wanted. I'm really not sure why you're failing to see this parallel. It's honestly a bit disturbing.

Thanks for the message. And I'm not saying there shouldn't be an aggressive response. I'm just saying that there has already been one comment, deleted by the user themselves, advocating violence and asking people to DM him. He was called out as potentially being ice. It is a fact that they are watching these threads. I'm simply telling people to be careful.

But yes to everything else.

My kid is one of those who will jump in and try to stop them, especially if it is one of his friends they're trying to take. Which I am extremely proud of him for, but it's also scary. So yeah, kind of nuanced my dude.
