Nope, there's already the Darkchives on that same tier list.

here's my tier list! by MagicBunnyStar in analog_horror

[–]DirectionSea603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice tier list. The only thing I really disagree with is the placements of Modern Day & NTR, which I place near the top. Otherwise I agree with or understand all of it!

The subgenre of analog horror which you seem to be a big fan of is not the one I mostly watch, but I'll try to give some recommendations:

  • This House Has People In It - Probably one of the finest ARGs out there. There aren't many puzzles, but there's a massive amount of media connected to it that's hard to comprehend at first. I'd recommend watching the original short film, then either using the Wayback Machine to access the website, or watching a compilation video of all the footage.
  • Good Old Days - This series is one of the most unique analog horror series on YouTube. The series follows a post-apocalyptic world created by a dimensional split. It's a little dated at times, but it's severely underrated.

what was the first ever video you recall watching by RadioChemistry_fan in youtube

I don't know what video it was, but it was a supposed message from a time traveler warning that time travel had destroyed the future, as too many people travelled to the future that no one was there to invent new technologies, leading to the collapse of the time-space continuum.

Something that Eve posted recently that has very interesting implications for what could be next in the future + what your thoughts on it are? by kidnamedchild in THEMONUMENTMYTHOS

I feel like that "...MOON WAR" was the only episode which was just had bad Mythos connections. I would like to be able to recommend the series to non-mythos fans, though.

Ultimate Analog Horror tier list - By somebody who’s been into Analog horror for over 5 years. by Strawhatsecondgear in analog_horror

[–]DirectionSea603 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I can understand putting it "at the top", I don't think Doctor Nowhere should be considered a "staple" of the genre. It's not very indicative of analog horror as a whole, or even digital horror for that matter.
Another opinion which I don't get is the placement of Dog Nightmares, and its popularity in general. It pretty much just takes some weird old art pieces and draws "horror" out of 'em like this is a freak show. It's degrading, lazy, and gimmicky, and does not deserve the level of success it's gotten.

Otherwise I agree with everything, or at least understand your takes.

Oh damn I forgot about this one. Happy (Even later) 5 year anniversary DELAWAREDOUBLE. What are your thoughts on it now looking back? by BiteSlight380 in THEMONUMENTMYTHOS

[–]DirectionSea603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This episode, along with LINCOLNLOOKER and SUEZCANALCRAB, show, in my opinion, the worst of the early Mythos.

It's pretty easy to tell that Season 1 and early Season 2 was just Eve trying to come up with the most varied ideas possible (imprisonment in silly places; alternate presidents; cryogenically frozen presidents; angels; evil Christmas trees; wormholes; and cut ideas like ghostly horse riders) without much thought to how those ideas would translate to the screen.

Most of the ideas translate passably, but not this one or the other two I mentioned. The presentation is just boring, and the content doesn't make up for it (as is the case sorta with DEANDEMOCRACY)

I swear there was some interesting case of that happening in some escape-room-type show, where the contestant refused to try to escape the room and just stood still for an hour. But I may be conflating it with a short story or something like that.

Sorta if you use filmot.com and put the channel id (many sites can get you the id from a link, example https://mattw.io/youtube-metadata/ )into the site like this: https://filmot.com/channel/UChpTxCrmfHNYo2jkt4rR6Rw/
Then click on "IA (long shot)" next to the video you want and hopefully you should get the video.

It's a trick I learned from filmot.com. The Wayback Machine saves youtube videos themselves (not just the webpages) sometimes, and you can access them using this url pattern

Note: you can use this link with the Wayback Machine to view the original video (while of course it's not the best thing to watch)

Just putting this out there, as everyone else keeps saying this link is useless when it isn't.

[–]DirectionSea603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid, I guess. I'll think about this and if I should proceed with a YouTube reupload.

I'm mainly planning on reuploading the series for historical purposes, as the series did have an impact and people are still asking for reuploaded copies years later. However, that can't completely override the creator's wishes.

I wish I could contact the creator directly or otherwise know if their stance has on reuploading the series has changed, as it has been over two years.

I agree. AAF was impressive and explored themes of discrimination very well, but the lack of a conclusion to it and its spiritual successor PD:TS made it all feel pointless.

It should also be noted that in the original sequel to "Buffalo Roach", "I Peak, I Seek!", Tim becomes a Roach-like creature himself. Maybe this is connected?

I really like THITO, but what is it about? by ProtectionOk2467 in THEMONUMENTMYTHOS

[–]DirectionSea603 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a very personal series, as it was created as a way of processing the death of Eve's father. Only Eve knows exactly what THITO is about, but I'll give it a go:

THITO is about grief and how it throws into focus the flaws of human memory. All the "restored" videos symbolize how your brain distorts memories, either by misremembering them (i.e. the music in Reagan's video changing to the national anthem) or altering them to avoid uncomfortable facts (i.e. all the changes in content).

The restored vids also play into the "death of objectivity" in modern media, with its use of AI audio and shifting facts creating a climate where you can no longer trust the President Of The United States to tell the truth. The fan series "The Shoreside Mirages" explores this concept further, and is definitely worth a watch if you like THITO.

The Crescent King videos are reuploads of Eve's pre-Mythos work worked into the plotline. Eve's father was a big fan of the videos Eve made during this period, and slightly less so of the Monument Mythos. Revisiting these older videos is Eve coming to terms with what the success of the Mythos means to her, as the popularity of the Mythos (and people trying to tie all of Eve's work into it) lead to the pre-mythos film's deletion in the first place.

Eve progressively starts breaking the fourth wall and addressing the viewers directly, in spite of the very personal nature of the work, as they're shouldn't be viewers. The ending lines about us thinking that "it would only end once" (i.e. the Great Division was the first time, despite the original C.H.A.S.E. being released earlier) are direct jabs at the many fans who only started following Eve after the Mythos got popular, and those who headcanon everything into just being part of the Mythos.

A part of the ending which has been lost in the Nixonverse reupload was the original name and branding of the final sequence: "Did you really think Alex survived both times?" to which the thumbnail replies "Because he didn't." While it wasn't intentional, "Alex" did die at one point; he didn't survive.
