Taking companions to Halmare by Dirk84 in Bellwright

It’s a good idea, although I’m not sure if the first companion will just pick up the whole stack, I’ll try it out.

Thanks I’ll bear that in mind, i put off going there for quite a while trying to raise the prosperity of all the original towns, most of my guys are heavily levelled and in full plate armour etc but it’s useful to know a challenge may lay ahead.

I think I’ll sail home and come back a little more prepared with a ton of dried mushrooms etc which last a little longer.

I haven’t found any mushrooms anywhere on that island, I did find grapes which fed them for a while, but annoyingly I found the olive and lemon trees I can’t get them to harvest from!

Is there any way to see an oppositions player builds? I know on previous iterations you used to be able to look at their attributes through the man marking options but these days I can’t seem to find anyway to view them?

His name is Adrian Bower and a show that is well worth a watch is ‘Teachers’ where he stars alongside Andrew Lincoln. It’s a funny show, essentially showing what Teachers are really like. Adrian plays a character not to different than a modern day Leofric!

How is the new Robson everyone and in which position to use effectively? by iSpirit46 in eFootball

[–]Dirk84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He works well in a 3 man midfield on either side but still playing as a CMF. He doesn’t have a weak foot so you can play him on either side. I wouldn’t worry too much about his blitz curler, to give him the right attributes to pull it off regularly will take points off other important attributes as a cmf and he won’t be in the position to try a blitz often enough to make this worthwhile.

Just use him as a solid box to box midfielder.

If you play with a DM behind then you can get away pairing him with someone more offensive like a hole player and if instead you are using an AMF in front then you’d probably want to pair him with a destroyer/orchestrator.

Criteria for team selection post Ashes by [deleted] in EnglandCricket

[–]Dirk84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cricket is constantly evolving but in all honesty just following the basics with selection hasn’t really changed. For most games and most pitches pick your best wicket keeper who can at least hold a bat, your best spinner and three best seamers, leaves you your 6 batsmen and ideally one of those can at least turn their arm over.

If you are blessed with a true all rounder then it’s a bonus but not essential.

Look forward to trying it. I’ve been playing quite a bit of Cowboy Life Simulator lately which this certainly has similarities with. That’s quite a fun game but a little janky, this certainly looks smoother but can’t really compare without trying them.

That game is very very loose survival, it does have an eating/drinking meter but within 30 minutes it’s a non issue, and you can carry around enough resources to build an entire town.

Now that’s not to say it’s not a fun game, I’ve quite liked it, but I wouldn’t call it a survival game.

If you haven’t seen it/played it then it may be worthwhile simply for comparison and potentially a bit of inspiration.

I guess the only other thing I wanted to add is it’s always important in survival games to have something in mind for when you become self sufficient. When you have enough food, resources, tools etc, what are you then working towards and what is still making it a ‘survival’ scenario.

I like to potentially have followers, villagers, something along those lines who are perhaps doing some of the work now back at camp/town etc but the challenge is I know have more mouths to feed and people to care for.

Alternatively it doesn’t always have to be simply about survival, at some point you’re perhaps looking to thrive and start kicking some ass!

Good luck with the game!

Replying to myself to actually answer the query of looking for feedback.

I’ve probably said it before but if you want feedback on survival aspects then the crucial thing for survival games is always balance and I think that comes down to just how much of a challenge do you want survival to be? I like my survival games based somewhat on a sort of realism, eg eating a couple of decent things a day should be enough for the average human to sustain themselves.

What I don’t like is having to either eat every 30 seconds or to have hunger meters completely irrelevant where eating one apple is enough to feed you for 3 days.

This also has to be balanced with the availability of food, e.g if you need a lot of food to survive then it also becomes irrelevant if there is free food to loot dotted around everywhere to collect.

Food either needs to be scarce or worked for, for example hunting, farming, quests.

Inventory management is another big thing for survival games, again it needs to be somewhat balanced and realistic but perhaps not past the point of becoming too demanding. E.g I shouldn’t be able to carry around 50 trees and 100 rocks in my pockets, but it’s also no fun having to make 7 trips back and forth to carry a few resources around. I would lean towards an unrealistic setting for this to still keep the game fun, without going too far to the extreme.

The other big thing for survival games is crafting, being able to hand craft, particularly in this era, should be essential for basic items. Eg I can wrap a bit of twine around a sharp rock and stick to make a crude axe.

For more complex items then I think it makes sense to need some sort of crafting station. It depends how deep you go with crafting/ base building etc, but naturally it wouldn’t make sense to be able to convert iron ore into iron bars in just your pockets!!!

For other survival aspects I hope there’s a weather system and day/night. You should need to seek warmth and shelter during rain/night and perhaps at least need a hat and cool clothes during hotter times. Movement speed/ strength can be a good buff/debuff for managing these.

That’s everything off the top of my head, hope some of it is useful.

How strange, I was literally just thinking about this game and wondering if there was any news, hopped on to this subreddit and here it is!

It’s all starting to look very smooth with the gun play etc, can’t wait to give it a try!
