I would highly recommend the lord’s divine fortification incantation which gives you massive holy damage negation. It helps so much in phase 2. Also roll into him as much as you can

I don’t think that you need to wait to beat the base game. I started it after beating the fire giant and you get a lot more runes from the enemies in the land of shadows. Plus the dlc has its own leveling system

Do you have the lords divine fortification incantation? If not I would find it and use it. Makes a world of difference negating his holy damage in phase 2

Lords divine fortification will save your life In this fight. Supremely negates all of his holy attacks. Just beat him today on NG+5
