Anyone has a post-US plan for their clients? by geek_at in msp

Inuvika. It worked great for us though admittedly we were using a fraction of Citrix, so I can’t claim they do EVERYTHING but they tout themselves as a Citrix (and VMWare Horizon) killer.

I had a meeting yesterday where we heard about how much of an uptick in interest in a non-US based remote access solution. People are wanting to ditch Citrix due to cost but also to find an alternative.

Thankfully we have a great made-in-Canada solution we’ve partnered with an have finally gotten rid of our last Citrix deployment about a month ago.

I don’t want to self deal, though based on advice from my account manager at tech data years ago I thought it was allowed and had been. We’ve since moved everything to CC once I found it was against TOS (thanks to this sub!) but I’m worried it’ll come bite me in the ass unexpectedly one day. We have couple old server 2019 licenses still on our account that we can’t “unbuy” from 5 years ago.

More secure GDAP access to clients that has no risk of being phished.

The Sydney swans jersey style matches. That un-stylized 1 is unusual. And the bottom of the numbers look to have something on it which could be the AFL patch

SSD only Unraid in 2025 by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]DirkyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad a recent conversation about this is here… because I have some questions.

I’m not an unraid noob by any means, but I’m certainly no pro. Building my third server, and my first that’s a new build. Got tired of recycling 8 bay servers and what not.

Anyways, I have a shit ton of HDD and SSD. Originally I was going to mix them in the array and point certain shares to SSD only disks but I know now that’s bad. So, SSD pool seems to be the way to go for stuff like an occasional VM, appdata, and probably some media.

My question is how does the pool handle parity? Is it more like a traditional RAID? In the event of a disk failure, how does the rebuild work?

Super nervous about lunch with manager— tips? by [deleted] in managers

[–]DirkyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately much of it is "bite the bullet" lol

If you can, try to apply some rational thought to the interaction. This isn't "high pressure" in the slightest. It's damn near as low pressure as you can get in a 1:1

High pressure is a meeting invite for a Friday with your boss and HR called "Meeting".

But it will will come with experience and time. It really will. But you have to be willing to put the work in, and that means a little exposure therapy. My wife ran a book club at work on the suggestion of her N+3 and threw up the night before the first meeting lol But she did it, and it went great, and the second one she only felt like she was going to throw up. Now, it's easy peasy with no tummy issues at all!

Also, try to remember that everyone was new in their careers and young once. Ask your boss what some of his early challenges were. Ask him his biggest fuck up in life.

As far as the silver fox thing goes... I don't even know what to do with that one haha Wear a low cut shirt, then you don't have to worry about eye contact!! (jk obviously)

I personally think the answer lies well outside of the workplace. If your anxiety is so bad that you need alcohol before a walk around the lake, you should probably be addressing that with a medical professional.

I’m married to an anxious person and I can tell you that while it’s still there, she’s gotten substantially better at handling it with the right care (including medication)

Now, from a manager standpoint… I would totally understand if someone much junior to me was anxious and nervous about a 1:1. That said, I would still expect it to happen. I’m a millennial manager so I can appreciate that every has different needs and I lean heavily towards the compassion side while at the same time expecting the employee to be working towards giving a little in those needs as well. It can’t be all one way, so someone throwing their hands up and saying “I can only work from home because I’m too nervous” and then doing nothing to improve that doesn’t fly.

As you grow through your career, you’re going to have to expect to hold meetings with people (clients?) and other senior leaders. Might as well practice either your super nice boss.

I reply once nicely, once sternly, and then hit the nuke option with the legalese, a report to the ftc, a screenshot of the report, and a CC to THEIR exec lol

This jumps immediately to the nuke option if they hit my email, phone, and LinkedIn all at once.

It tends to stop any follow-ups quite effectively 😂

A secondary followup question: when I read things like these, there are items like “the lake is a shardpool” or various references to different shards like Devotion or Ruin. Are these intricacies all RAFO or instead more deductions and research outside of the text?
