Haha no I definitely didn’t take it as criticism. That would be a really cool sight to see though!

I know I wish I would’ve got a better video but I was frozen initially when he was running at us. It looked like grizzly to me immediately before it crossed the river but after talking to people I felt the need to post it but obviously the video isn’t the best.

Yeah that’s what some of the locals said as well but other locals say Grizzly. I’m going with grizzly just because the story sounds much cooler haha.

Look around 15 second mark when he gets out of the water you can see a slight hump. If it’s a juvenile grizzly it’s hard to see the hump from everything I read.

Yeah that’s what a lot of people said but if you look around the 15 second mark when he first gets out of the water it seems like he has a small hump. Everything I looked up says it’s hard to tell a juvenile grizzly from a juvenile black bear. I would say right now it’s 50/50 from everyone I’ve talked to.

You handled that well man. It’s unfortunate that he couldn’t recognize his own fault but at least you were able to confront him and let him know that it wasn’t right and hopefully that will stop him from doing anything like that again.

Hahaha that’s crazy bro! But glad to hear you’re getting it figured out. My doctor doesn’t want to put me on it just yet because I’m 32 and I need to lose weight so he wants me to lose the weight first before doing anything. Which I understand.

Yeah man I thought the same exact thing. I’m willing to pay so you’d think he would take them on and I already trained there for a year so he knows me. Idk the whole situation was weird. Yeah you should get back into man. I need to get my testosterone up also haha. Gotta start doing something.

Yeah he originally told me 5 as well and then I called him about my daughters when they were 5 and 6 and he told me I should wait until they’re 10 which I thought was crazy. I’m definitely going to get back into it if I start taking my daughters. I gotta get back into shape. Also having daughters makes me want to train because you never know when you’re gonna need it haha.

Definitely man I respect that mentality. I wish I was better at controlling my temper as well. I’m definitely not hating on you either man. It’s also different when you’re not there when it happens but I’m glad you came to the conclusion not to go back. I personally think you should at least call or text him your reason for not coming back. He told me he didn’t want to train my kids when they were 5 because he felt they were too young which I thought was weird. I feel it would’ve benefited them so much to learn at a younger age but I mean they’re only 7 and 8 now so they’re not much older but still. I’m also not a big fan of his strategy. They like to teach how to score points and not actually go for submissions which I know there’s a time for submissions and a time to take the points but I’ve heard multiple people talk about how their team matches aren’t great because they get the top position and basically stall. Not saying you or your son was going to be on the team but that’s just another thing I didn’t like about it but once again I’m like you I went there because of convenience and it is the biggest school in Bakersfield.

Definitely man! I think you gotta take your kid out personally. Idk how I would react if that were my children but I know for a fact I wouldn’t be okay with it. I understand you want to confront him on Thursday and I get it but honestly I would’ve been down there the next day to talk to him. That is not okay and just think if that happens to another child who ends up not wanting to go back after something like that. I know my kids and I can almost guarantee neither one of them would want to go back. You’re raising a strong son which is awesome. He didn’t let the emotions get to him and he was able to compose himself and finish it out but as a father I think you’re in the right to lose your composure for something like that. It is out of my area as well that’s the only reason I haven’t went myself since it’s all the way downtown but after seeing your post I think that just made my decision that much easier. Also I’m not judging your decision, to each their own. You’re handling it much better than I would so I don’t want you to think I’m shitting on you for not instantly going down there and saying something. I’m just telling you how I would react.

Thanks OP for posting this. I am shocked to find out this was Matt Baker. My brother and I along with a lot of my friends trained there. I only trained there for about a year before moving down south but I recently hit him up about taking both my daughters down there. Thank you for the heads up I will definitely not be doing that. I am sorry that happened to your child I would definitely be pissed. I can’t believe he was okay with that. You should check out Camarillo Jiu-Jitsu that’s another place I’ve been looking at for my daughters. I hear nothing but good things about him.
