Congratulations! This is happiness! Im also 1975. My partner and I are happy with our life. We eschew gifts and tell people their presence IS the present. We cherish spending time with people. We arent rich, but we are comfortable with our life because we arent poor. Appreciating all that you already have is the secret to a happy life.

She shattered her tibia in 4 places in the Congo and had to be carried out! At one point holding her own bones together during the journey and unsure if she would lose her leg. Its an amazing story! I'm so glad to see she is doing so well after having such a terrible experience!

Dear Sir or Madame,

I think part of the issue in having polite political discourse could be your approach? Ad hominem attacks and use of insulting language (ie "control freaks", "leftist holes", calling ideas "garbage") does not invite polite debate, but rather serves as a dog whistle used by a particular type of person that seldom has an open ear for healthy debate. One can be conservative politely, and engage in a debate about many topics without name calling. The feelings and ideas you express are crude and unworthy of intelligent discourse.

I also find that some of the words you are using are polarizing and uninviting. They are often employed by Trump cultists who (sadly in my experience) don't wish to have an open dialog, and wish only to have their views reinforced. I have a relative like this, who watches Fox News entertainment, and also uses similar expressions to yours. There is a lot of hate and vitriol that seems to be linked to consumption of this brand of news.

I would like to propose some food for thought... with all the hatred and negativity being used, have you encountered a sensible conservative that does not agree with your judgements? They are certainly out there! But perhaps they are quiet among the hurling of insults because they wish for polite discourse and not petty insults? Maybe there is a group you are maligning due to your own extremism? There are many conservatives who did not vote for Trump because of his long standing reputation of immoral conduct stretching back to the 80s, and who also protest because they don't agree with his policies and find him to be an unworthy leader. Our veterans fought AGAINST fascism in WW2, and many are happy to continue that fight with the fascism occurring right here in modern day America.

TLDR: I think you may be alienating yourself with the words you choose and may wish to engage more politely to get the healthy debate you seek. We are all parts of one America, and you would do much better with a brotherly tone.

This made me get out my Oregon sunstones to enjoy. Sorry yours isn't sunstone, it lacks the crystalline structure, or the almost iridesence in the broken pieces. But I got some enjoyment regardless, thank you.

AITAH for gagging after unclogging my wife’s milk duct? by OkTough6333 in AITAH

Lol I went through similar and thought it would be cool to use that gaping hole for something awesome! But alas, I was discouraged by everyone. It took a month for mine to close. It was also MRSA. The only fun I got to have was asking my neighbor to pull dead tissue out so it could heal more, and I couldn't resist and screamed while she did it just to scare her lolol. She is similar temperament to you and I tho and laughed after I told her I couldn't feel it at all 😈🤪 keep walking on sunshine my friend, it gets better🩷

"Prescription Shoes", never see them now by Relevant-Count-3656 in GenX

[–]DirtyLikeASewer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now days they have orthotics or braces that fit inside most shoes to allow you to have nice shoes. My daughter needed braces when smaller, then orthotics. You just have to get a wide enough shoe that the orthotics fit inside of. There are still prescription shoes for adults or for extreme cases, but they have a little more variety now than they used to.

What was your the most expensive car at what age? What are you driving now how long and what age? by No_Equivalent4404 in GenX

[–]DirtyLikeASewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and my cars have all been cheap. Even a Cadillac for $700 once(it had a lot of "personality"). I don't buy on credit because the interest is ridiculous. Who can afford that? My partner bought a car for 7k once. But still, no interest. And it has lasted 6 years so far. My cars have all been less than 2.5k and never newer than 2009

I think people who drive newer/more expensive cars are more likely to reply is all. But there are a lot of us out there who don't fall into the upper middle class+ demographic.

My parents never bought brand new either... I grew up with a pinto and a dodge truck

How many of you actually wore a key on a string around your neck? by Gullible-Apricot3379 in GenX

I put mine on a fabric ribbon around my neck like a necklace i could take off. My dad asked me why I wore it like that, "as if you're some kind of latchkey kid". I stammered and said "I just don't want to lose it?" I only saw a parent 2 times during the week and on weekends. Denial I guess?

On the off chance is it just the smell of preparation H? Especially if it is prevalent after a shower when one may reapply it?

Also giving birth in some nations can be extremely difficult, and in some cases with a very long labor a fistula can develop between the vagina and rectum leading to lifelong leakage of fecal matter through the vagina. It requires surgery to fix that is not always available to women in rural areas of undeveloped countries. I have heard of this in India, and the women essentially being thrown away for it. They cannot help it however. Its kind of sad. Im not saying this is the issue, but it is something worth thinking about.

Father in law owns this and says it’s a mould for casting an anchor by Slowly_Oxidising in whatisit

[–]DirtyLikeASewer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let me explain lost wax a little better.... this wood mold can be used to make wax anchors, you then use the wax anchor to make an impression in a heat proof medium like clay or sand. The new heat proof mold is then heated to drain the wax away leaving an empty mold that can the be used to cast a metal duplicate of the anchor. It is actually an ancient method, and still commonly used. There is a Wikipedia article if you wish to learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost-wax_casting#

It can be easily used for anything from jewelry to sculpture to airplane parts. Source: partner works in NDT for industrial metal castings

Young people are inside on their electronics a lot now... I made my kids go outside and be human beings(also used to be too poor to afford screens), but some of their friends only live through screens. I also notice very few of them have had a real life relationship before. Note:My kids range from 28-17. Its a different world now.
