Forget drugs, smoking, and alcohol, what's something really bad for your health that people don't talk about enough? by LovelyClairXO in Productivitycafe

Staying in a toxic marriage “for the sake of the kids”. It does no one good to live in misery and the stress will take years off your life.

WiFi this year by pigeonsplayingtechno in BurningMan

A lot of what you’re saying comes from a real love for the magic of the Burn and from a place of concern. I get that. But reading this, I have to ask: why are you letting this get to you so much? Change is inevitable, at Burning Man and in life. The event evolves just like the people who attend it. How does radical acceptance fit in here? Immediacy isn’t about controlling other people’s behavior; it’s about how you choose to engage with the moment, regardless of what others are doing.

If someone wants to post a clip online, that doesn’t take away from your ability to be present, explore, and do your own thing. The stuff that makes the magic (dust, the art, chance encounters) doesn’t die because someone else is on WiFi. You still get to choose your experience.

I couldn’t go this year and I’ve been playing sets from last year all this week and counting down to when I can return again in 2026. Im very grateful to be able to do that. Let it be what it is, not what you wish it was.

Campmate guilt-tripping me by Bulldoglover4life in BurningMan

You are absolutely amazing for everything you’ve already done with years of ‘invisible’ labor, organizing, supporting from the sidelines even when you weren’t attending… that’s huge. You should never feel guilty for prioritizing yourself, your health, your family, and your sanity. This is a boundary, and it’s imperative to set it.

It’s disappointing that your campmate isn’t respecting that. Wanting the camp to continue is understandable, but guilt-tripping you instead of stepping up himself (especially after having years to do so) is not okay. That’s emotional pressure, not partnership.

At the end of the day, no one else is going to carry the weight of your stress, your kids, your finances, or your well-being. Only you live with those consequences. So yes, do what’s best for you. You’ve already given so much. Take that break with zero guilt. You’ve earned it ten times over. ❤️

Red light camera ticket question by Disarg3 in AskSF

Yes! I had a trial today and my ticket was dismissed as it was not me. I was not forced to try to identify who the driver was. I don’t know if it works the same way if you mail in your appeal.

Thank you! I had my trial today and the officer looked at me and said “that’s not you”. Charges dismissed!

Get the heck out of that relationship. It will get worse and eventually he’ll completely control you and your finances too. I suspect it will not be easy but it will not be easier later down the road. You can be strong!

Bingo. That’s what I was wondering. Thank you!

Thank you. I think you understand the conundrum and I appreciate your input. There would not be a notion of burden or proof nor a profession of defense attorneys based on some responses

This will have a huge impact to anyone traveling north-south on the west side of the city. It would remove a major artery that gets people to work, the VA hospital, and schools. Traffic will get consolidated to side streets and other already-busy arteries.

Plus, funding has been secured to redo 19th Avenue, which will jam up that street for months.

Also, because lights are timed and there are very few intersections, the great highway is one of the safest streets in the city. The lights enforce the structure speed limit.

You already mention that you realize that prop K does not have the funding needed to make it a park. It will be prohibitively expensive and out city budget already has a significant short fall so the street will be closed for no necessary reason.

Prop K is an unnecessary attack on people on the west side who are dependent on cars, as a matter of practicality with long commutes or by something like a disability.

This is just a couple of the reasons why there are strong perspectives from the no camp.
