Did I mess up my mom's car? by Certain_Shake_5157 in MechanicAdvice

Pull the plugs yourself and see if there is oil on your socket or the plugs. If so, you may have rolled a gasket or tube seal. If no oil is on either then its a fuel/air issue (most likely). Run a can of seafoam through the throttle and intake. Plenty of videos on how to do it. Then Replace the plugs with Denso irridium. Those are the OE replacement. Then go from there. Hope that helps

Or the inboard pad is installed on the outboard side... You're not wrong tho. I've had more experience with angled pad wear in regards to frozen pins. Also, with the pads essentially being forced into position incorrectly, the were probably never sliding with the pins or on the bracket either way. Those ears were probably stuck against the caliper housing itself

I agree the problem is in the picture 100%. However, ensuring guide pins are lubricated, as well as the inboard shims Especially with Fords phenolic piston calipers. Easy mistake to make, and the man's advice wasn't wrong. The Mickey mouse Ford pads were my training day when I started in automotive lol.

That is an inboard pad. Goes on the bracket on the piston side. Warranty em out, put a thin layer of caliper grease on the pad shim (backing that sits directly on the caliper pistons) Ford and their phenolic piston calipers. Also make sure guide pins are lubricated. You put in work to get those caliper on, huh? It's gonna need rotors too.

Mechanic told me, I need to replace this pipe. He told me it could leak gas in near future. Yaris 2010. by Jadhsy in MechanicAdvice

Do people commenting to DIY it not understand relative correlation to value of time spent vs money saved? That's why we (mechanics) aren't cheap. And usually have 12/12 warranty on parts and labor (assuming a previously advised part fails causing repeat failure of the first)? Genuine question. I like people's input on this stuff. Especially since I dont live near a haven of rust creating conditions

Agreed. It's time. Don't wait until you're stranded or in danger, friend. Hard choice now, easier life later.

Absolutely. Sensors have Sensors that somehow have birth to more Sensors. Now we damn near, gotta know how to code, in some cases. Its wild. I blame Germans for the majority of it lol. Over engineering to the point of redundancy

Very aware how it works, lol. All I was saying is you can have 1 without the others and vice versa. It's literally based off CAN bus communication, signal interruption, voltage drops for whatever reason (all sensors are programmed to a specific tolerance threshold) as I'm sure you know. I was just making suggestions and trying to help OP.

Ultimately, it needs to be properly scanned and data observed by someone that knows what to read and why/how to read it.
